  • Illegal Immigrant became police officer

    http://news.aol.com/story/_a/immigra...00010000000001

I understand that he wanted to be a cop and serve and protect. However, he lied to become an officer. He lied about his entire life. Not only should he go to jail, but after serving his time, he needs to be deported back to Mexico.

He has a brother who was born in the U.S. The brother of course is an American citizen and is also a cop. According to the news article, he could lose his job too because he knew his "cousin" was his brother.

It might be a "sad" story. However, both brothers deserve to have their jobs taken away from them. American citizen cops can be arrested and thrown off the force for lying about things, I don't see why these people should be any different.

    Just my piece.

WoooW. Thats just wonderful background checking there. Who watchers the watchers indeed.

I agree with you both of them need to be yanked off the force and the one sent packing back home.

Drinkrum: Well folks wont have to worry about this guy any more. He was sentenced to be deported and did not fight it. He says he will study electronics in Mexico while living with family there.

MILWAUKEE - A former police officer who stole his dead cousin's identity to get on the force will not go to prison but must leave the country, a judge decided Monday.

Well, at least he's not fighting the deportation. However, a part of me thinks we'll be hearing about him in a year or two, when it's found out that he snuck back into the States and is being deported again. (Is that cynical of me?)

He didn't really lie about his whole life. Just 12 years. He still went to school to study, he pays his taxes, he was a patriot. Hell, he didn't even KNOW he was in the country illegally until his father told him. So the parents help him do what any sane parent would do, make his dream come true. While it's true that they did it wrongly, he was still a good cop it seems. One small wrong act for a lifetime of good acts is a very fair trade in my mind. Now he's being permently deported back to Mexico, where he hasn't been to for over a decade.

          I feel bad for him.

Exactly, just because they are illegal doesn't mean jack. They should have their jobs taken away. They used someone else's identification for Christ's sake.

I dont really feel bad for him at all. I feel kinda bad for the people who had a police department that dropped the ball on their background checks when they hired him.

He was in the country illegally. Whether he personally knew about it in the begining or not he knew about it when he lied to become a police officer. I'm glad he was a good cop but the story could just as easily have gone the other way. And as for his parents if they where in the country illegally or knew he was in the country illegally then so be it. I mean swearing to uphold, protect and defned the law means including the ones that you may not personally agree with or might damage you as well.

He broke the law. he used another identity, he lied to the authorities. He was an illegal immigrant. I see nothing wrong at all about booting his butt back across the border and not letting him back in.

Meanwhile, cops in Pittsburgh can have domestic abuse charges filed against them and keep their jobs. It's funny how police tend to close ranks around fellow officers but that didn't happen here.

I'm not saying I approve of illegal immigration, but it's crazy to see how people get as upset about that as they would about captial offenses. I mean, IMO the fact that someone can steal another person's identity and join the POLICE FORCE is the scariest part of the story to me, but most people will hang on the illegal immigrant part of the story.
