Babies in bars

I don't drink very much anymore, but I'm willing to cart around my bf and friends out and about on the weekends and I'll have a couple.

It's so nice to be able to go to at least ONE place outside of work and home where there aren't screaming babies, toddlers and children running amock, and shrieking and screaming.

Maybe we should go and sit in playgrounds with a crate of beer and smoke. After all, the parents and kids are invading all the adult only places; maybe it's time to fight back.

It depends on the bar. If it is a family style pub then I have no problem with it. If it is a bar just for people 21 and older then no. I go to a bar to get away from BS in life. I don't go to a bar to listen to you talk to you your kid. I don't want to hear your kid or even see your kid.

By the way. Here in town we openly drink in the local park. The town is has maybe 1500 people in it so the local cops don't care.

Personally, I don't think it's right to have a baby in a bar. There's a time and place for everything and baby in a bar is like having a bear in an apartment, it doesn't belong there AT ALL. Too much commotion from some of the adults that are drunk, too much noise, it's not good for a baby and it's also not legal.

I've always thought that a bar* is where you get a start on making babies, not where you bring them after you have them...
But what do I know?

Now, having perused many, many pubs in the UK, a pub isn't always necessarily a bar, by my definition. Pubs usually serve aldoholic beverages, but it's usually primarily a gathering spot, with food, beverages and sometimes games available - at least footy on the telly.

I don't know of any bar around here that isn't also a full-service restaurant. I believe there's something about the Ontario liquor laws that requires any establishment serving liquor to offer a full menu.

Combined with the province's total smoking ban, I really don't have a problem with babies in most bars.

There are a few nightclubs that card everyone at the door. If there's a drinking-age only policy in effect, then babies aren't allowed. Most truly raucous behaviour happens in those establishments.

I guess my point is that it's hard to have strong feelings about this one way or the other when I've so rarely seen any problems arise. Isn't it really a non-issue?

I'm not one to drink much, I probably have a few drinks once or twice a year but I wouldn't bring a child into a place that is meant for adults and adults only.

I don't think it's a good idea to bring a baby or a kid to a bar, heck most if not all restaurants in my area that have a bar area doesn't allow anyone under the age of 21 to sit at the bar. I would expect bars that are strictly bars to not allow anyone under the legal drinking age inside the establishment.

Depends on if its "Johnny's Pub" which serves lots of booze and miniscule amount of food just to stay legal, or if it's "Johnny's Bar and Grill." Also depends on if its Johnny's Bar and Grill on Saturday at 9pm or 2 in the afternoon. Some of those places are actually restaurants too, even though its all combined, but they actually serve legitimate meals. Maybe you just want to get something to eat.

I think there is a HUGE difference between a hot spot bar downtown and a your friendly neighbourhood pub in the suburbs.

Would I take my family to an pub that has a family section, yeah I would. I love pub food!

Would I let them bawl and cry and disturb all of the other patrons, no I would not.
