  • Where's the Public Outcry?

The Vice President, during the event that was being hailed as the landmark victory for the President, drops the F-Bomb on live national television, and.... nothing. There's a little blip about it on the news, and the anchors just laugh it off. The White House twitter guy says, "Yes, Mr Vice President, it is a big deal." Then everyone has a good chuckle and goes on with life. Obama himself just clapped Biden on the back and said, "I know."

Where are the legions of crybabies getting offended that maybe someone, somewhere might have been slightly offended? Where are the talking heads who live to smear the leaders of the US (oh, that's right, they've been on vacation since Obama stepped in the office)? Where are the legions of soccer moms bitching on all the morning shows about how outraged they are by this "national disgrace?" Where is the FCC, which is usually there instantly to toss fines out left and right? Where are the members of the opposing political party rubbing their faces in it? Where is the public apology?

Don't get me wrong. I wasn't offended by this. It was kind of funny, really. But what disturbs me is that we live in the most self-absorbed, pretentious, whiny, touchy-feeling, pandering, spoiled rotten society in the history of the universe, and there was not one single solitary jackass getting all huffy over this. Since when does this ever happen? Everyone throws a hissy fit about EVERYTHING in this country. Are they just so damn enamored with Obama, the man who can do no wrong, that they can't even fault him (or his cabinet) for this? For fuck's sake, if it had been Cheney, he'd have been lynched on the spot.

And yes, if you are wondering, it really does upset me that no one is upset. Yes, I am so used to all this pissing and moaning all the time that its sudden absence shakes me to the core.

Maybe enough people listened to Rocco's rant in BS: II

    Ed:

In all seriousness, I think it's because of the context. It's not like Cheney when he told someone to "F-k off!"

Maybe Obama is such a kick ass president, that he single handly managed to make it so people aren't offended for someone walking across the steet in shorts. Because, you know, their legs were showing. And that sexual.

Oh wait, if that was true we wouldnt have SC.

Because it's just a word. Now, if he had kissed him, now that would have been a problem.

No one cares because he didn't disrespect any one group. He didn't make fun of people for being retarded. He didn't make fun of people because of their race or religion. He dropped the f-bomb, which you also did in your rant. I mean, how offended can you be by it if you use it yourself?

We had a similar issue here around the time of the last federal election. Apparaently our current PM tends to let the swearing fly freely when not in the public eye.

Although, there was a huge public outcry when it came out that he visited a strip club. Yes folks, a STRIP CLUB. The responses ranged from "Well it proves that he's human" through to "I don't want our kids to live in a country run by an immoral man."

Honestly, I'm still so relieved that we're back to it being the VICE President saying stupid things that it's a pleasure to hear.

You're right, but I'm confused by that.

She's not offended, but she is offended that no one is offended?

The FCC is part of the executive branch. Generally, you don't fine your boss.

Damn, beat me to it. It'd be like writing your boss up. How well do you think that'd work out?

Ha! We, the people of the United States, are the boss. Fine him.

Honestly, I don't care about this one bit. Why should the media make a big deal out of it? It's not news.

Bit of a difference there, that was a pre planned event where as something live and not staged is different.
