  • Wisconsin DA threatening Sex-Ed teachers with arrest

New Sex-Ed law in Wisconsin mandates schools with a sex education curriculum have to teach age-appropriate sex education including using condoms correctly and possibly talking about homosexuality and transgender/sexuals

Parents still have the ability to opt-out of sex education. The schools who do have sex education as part of their teaching also have the ability to opt-out of such a class, but they have to inform the parents.

Time to start looking for a DA who actually studied law.

OK, I'm moving to Canada... between Utah DAs charging victims with crimes and now Wisconsin DAs threatening to charge people with crimes for following the law... I don't see how Canada could possibly be worse.

As a note to that DA, I don't know what drug you are on that makes you so delusional, but damn, unless it is the opiate of the masses, I would really appreciate if you shared.

Wow...a law that is finally a little progressive and one can be arrested for following it? Yeah much better to leave kids in the dark about practices that can actually help them not get pregnant or get diseases....and god forbid we should let them know that gay, and trans people are out there.....they might die from that knowledge!!!

He'd still have to get a judge to sign a warrant to have anyone arrested and I doubt he'd get a better response than being laughed at.

If someone isn't trying to justify a reasoning for their job I have no idea what is going on here. I'm pretty sure using a vague law to punish people who are following a more recent law that is clear in what needs to be taught is stupid.

I propose a law whereby we teach children to recognize dangerously stupid people, and to kill them with fire at the earliest opportunity...

I can only imagine how many desks have been broken what with all the head-desking that must be going on in the DA's office and more or less everywhere else in that area...

                    this makes no sense
if the law requires you do to that then how can you be arrested for not breaking the law

what they need to do is challenge the law in the court system if they think the law is illegal

I'd like to believe that, but I've seen too many moronic things like this happen.

Personally, I don't think "opting out" should be an option.

                        Keeping kids ignorant is unconscionable.

I completely agree. The problem with keeping kids ignorant is that it just doesn't work, and it leaves the kids wide open to exploition by more savvy folk. I remember the episode of Law and Order where a guy molested a mentally challenged girl who had been "opted out" of the sex ed courses,by telling her that they were doing "exercises".

That episode made me cry. I have a mentally challenged aunt and I don't know what I would do if something like that happened to her.

                            But seriously? Just...*facepalm*

I do, it would involve all my experience in human anatomy and the knife skills I picked up working in an abattoir.
