And why is it always against Christians? What about Jews? They're actually supposed to follow the whole thing. Why don't you talk about their beliefs? It can't be specifically because there aren't a lot of Jewish organizations donating against homosexuals, because I know you don't claim all Christians do that. And I know for a fact that Jewish people can be just I understand that you were hurt by a group of Christians, and you perceive it has having been a personal betrayal. I can certainly understand that. But you weren't betrayed by the entirety of Christianity, and there are still groups which are accepting. Perhaps they're not in your area, but such groups still EXIST. Saying they don't is just factually inaccurate.

Too often people on both sides forget that Christianity is supposed to be a religion based around love, caring, and acceptance. Not a religion based around getting converts (although it is a religion where everyone's considered a missionary, its not founded on the basis of getting converts, you're not supposed to hurt someone even if it gets a thousand converts). I always keep loving my neighbor in mind. That's certainly a more important part of Christianity than hating gay people, no matter what some people seem to think.

Most Jewish folk are smart enough not to force their laws and beliefs onto others. That's why they generally aren't attacked for their beliefs. Muslims-I've been friends with and worked with Muslim students long enough to know that they aren't automatically terrorists from the outright. As for Christians, my grandmother is a rare breed that loves and tolerates everyone and gets along well with her neighbours.


I take much of the stuff about loving thy neighbour and open tolerance but not as a Christian. To me it's more or less common sense-is there a legitimate reason for me to hate somebody in this world? The extent of my Biblical lore is mostly the stories that everyone else hears when they were younger-parting of the Red Sea, Noah's ark, Jesus's five loaves of bread and two fish story...

Back on topic here, with all the infighting that's going on between the various "factions" of the GLBT community, it's no wonder people don't take them seriously. Turning down someone because they're not "gay enough?" Pardon my French, but are you fucking kidding me? Why are they fighting among themselves instead of working together?

Replace "gay enough" with "Christian enough". That would form the basis of arguments within each faction.

When gays start murdering Christians and beating them without mercy,, for no other reason than they are Christian, then that will be a fair comparison... and when it is the majority of gay people you encounter, not just one, then also will it be a fair comparison.

I'd agree on that front.

See, I can play that game too. The only difference between the infighting amongst the Christian sects and the "factions" of the GLBT community is that Christianity as a whole isn't judged because of it.

So then we judge both. Based on what you demonstrated there, I wouldn't take christians OR GLBT seriously.

I've criticized them for having homophobic teachings, I've criticized them for placing a 2000 year old text over reason and logic and even empathy.
Don't think I've criticized for infighting... I've said a lot in my lifetime though so I could be mistaken.

I very much doubt that any organization with more than five people has it's share of differences and individuals not pulling in the same direction. Question isn't if they do or don't, it's whether or not they're assholes about it, and even so it can only fairly be a reflection on the individuals being assholes.

this just goes to show that people will discriminate against others just because they can. i'm not saying it's right because it's not. i'm just saying that discrimination is as old as time. "oh you're younger than i like. you're fired" "you have slightly darker skin than me. that means you're less of a person." it happens everywhere. until people learn to live peacefully with each other, it's going to keep happening.
and yeah, bisexual people are looked down upon. i was told by a lesbian to "pick a damned side" because apparently, there's "sides" to this whole thing. for years, every guy i dated would want to have a 3-way just because i was bi. even guy friends would want to see me make out with another girl. these days, i don't really bring up my sexuality unless it comes up. even then i say i'm more attracted to personality than gender.

I don't usually bring mine up either but I do with my mom if she mentions, "marrying a girl" or any such statement I am trying to prepare her for the fact that it's equally likely that the love of my life will be a guy.
