    Summary: Lawyers are tripping over themselves filing lawsuits in hopes of getting big money out of BP over the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

    You mean they are going to do their jobs to make money? I'd say pretty smart.

            Can someone at least explain to me why lawyers getting ready for law suits against a company that majorly screwed up is scummy?

                There are so many people who make their livelihood fishing the Gulf regions, it's BP's platform with a safety mechanism that should not have failed (apparently their European rigs have the needed valves that work)...makes sense to me.
