i'm just confused as to when it became socially acceptable to go out looking like you don't give a damn. a comfortable day out with your friends...really? what if your employer saw you like that? what if you met a guy (or girl, whatever) you found absolutely amazing, but wouldn't give you the time of day because you look like a slob?
it does not take very long to put on a proper pair of pants and a clean (or at least clean-looking) shirt. so why not do it? you never know what's going to happen

But ripped pants.... in the what 80's you paid top dollar for things like that... *me I was in the sticks so all my pants got holes*
My rule... is if it is for bedroom wearing dont wear it in public... trust me NO one *well my hubby* Wants to see me in what I sleep in... lol nakkid gooood... but I sorta long for the time when people dressed neat.. and well proper...
I cringe at the way some dressed when I was at the JC in cali... My rule is to try to dress in a manner that is representative of me... you never know who you will run into...

First impressions of people aren't everything. Do I think some people are lazy to not get dressed? Sure, but not everyone goes outside everyday looking like a million bucks either. Since I work overnight at a pharmacy, we do see people in some PJs or obviously not well dressed. I mean, who the hell is going to make themselves all pretty to get up to go to the emergency room and then get your drugs after? We also have a hotel right next door, and we don't expect people to get all dolled up for a 30 second trip to the store.
As far as clothes/sleeping goes, I sleep in the clothes (well, as far as understuff goes) I will wear the next day since I take my shower before bedtime rather than when I wake up. I sleep better that way, plus if I waited until before I went to work rather than when I got home to take a shower, then I WOULD be sleeping in my own sweat from the night's work, which to me, is scuzzier, given that I sweat much more at work than I do while sleeping.
Personally, it doesn't matter much to me what people wear, except for 2 musts: It should be clean and weather appropriate. Wearing flip-flops in February is a worse offense to me than going out in your flannel PJ bottoms and t-shirt.

What I hate is people who wear sagging pyjama bottoms or dirty night attire; especially if they have no underwear on. -.- The same could go for sagging tank tops or trousers, but in my experience, people who go shopping in night attire seem to think that they are surrounded by a force field that keeps off negative opinions so it doesn't matter if their PJs are saggy or stained.
I just don't see the point; first impressions still count, and it takes, what, five minutes to pull on a pair of clean trousers and a t-shirt before you hit the shops."Oh wow, I can't believe how stupid I used to be and you still are."

I don't wear PJ bottoms whe going out (I'd be afraid they'd falld own, heehee)
I *will* the same jeans for a few days (not sleeping in them), wear the same T-shirt for weekend if I am not going anywhere special (sometimes I will sleep in it as well). If I know I am only going down the street to the convience store, I won't change the shirt.
If anyone has an issue, I shall say, "Please stick an eletrical eel in your arse." They can also do my laundry for me.
I don't get the going out in curlers, though....probably because I never use 'em anyway. There may be a need to keep em in for long that I am unaware of.Last edited by Cat; 05-06-2010, 01:27 PM.

Comfy/movie day = we just stay in someone's dorm and watch a movie. Sometimes, we will want snacks and instead of having two of us walk back to our dorms and change for a five minute run to the store, we will just go as is.
As for employers, as long as someone doesn't go to work looking like that, then it really shouldn't matter. Granted, back home, everyone ran into everyone and a lot of people wore sweats or pj pants and you betcha during those times I wore my nice clean pj pants to the store for a quick run, I ran into my boss. Did she care? Nope!"It's after Jeopardy, so it is my bed time."- Me when someone made a joke about how "old" I am.

I wear sweats a lot while running errands because I've just went to the gym after work. Although, sweats are a little different.
I do laundry on Friday mornings and sometimes I wear pajama pants if I don't plan on working out that day....but I try not to be seen like that.

The only time I could see wearing pajama bottoms (like the long kind) out in public would be if you are sick and just going to the drug store to get something, or if it's some sort of late night emergency (taking a kid to the hospital, etc).
It always bugged me in college when I'd see people in pajamas at classes. Even if it's a 7:30 AM class, you really can't wake up a half hour before hand to take a quick shower and put on some decent clothes? Really? Even a pair of sweat pants and a t-shirt is better than flannel pajamas. I just think people should have more self respect than that.
Go to peopleofwalmart and look at all the people in pajamas doing their shopping. It looks stupid and low class. If that's what you want people to think of you, then more power to you, I guess.

If it's something as informal as running to 7-11 or Wawa for a snack or McDonalds, I don't care if people are wearing pajama pants.
But once you start to get to an even slightly formal situation, like class, pajamas and slippers are ridiculous. It just reads slob/disgusting. I used to leave the house and go to high school in sweat-style pants during my period because of the bloating and ovarian cyst that I had. Did it look slobby? Yes, I'll admit. But they were clean, and jeans hurt me. Also, I will never do it again, lol.
Now, I do hate when girls leave the house in PJ pants rolled to show their navel piercing, matched with flip-flops, done-up nails, and a ton of perfectionist makeup/hair. It irks me.
I could see going to the hospital/pharmacy/convenience store at night. I can also see if you have a surgery and don't want to hurt the tummy with jeans. And maybe I can see elderly people do it (Although I would have to draw the line at the old guy in a robe and nothing else). But if you're going out in broad daylight to go shopping or school, and definately if you were going to a restaurant, then please dress casually, not lazily.
