dressed for...something?

The only real "dressing up" I do on my days off if I need to run a quick errand is to put in my contacts. I lost my clip on sunglasses years ago, and I need sunglasses when I drive. Generally I sleep either in sweats or PJ pants and a T-shirt. Do I really care what I look like just running into WalMart for a few things? Not really as long as I'm covered. I'll even wear my fuzzy slippers if I know I'm not getting out of the car (run through the bank drive through or McDonald's).
Now if I'm going to be out awhile and it's not just a pop in pop out errand, I do actually get dressed.

how would you feel knowing your future boss may have seen you in your pjs? You never know who you'll run into-maybe an ex partner, or someone you want as a partner....

Now, I myself would be pretty embarassed to walk into a place in my PJ's so I would only do it if I need a quick run at night. For the most part, I don't give a shit what other people think of how I look. With a few extreme exceptions, it's petty to judge people on such silly crap. As long as it's not obvious, why should it matter?

I remember somebody on another forum who said that they were ALWAYS extremely image conscious- meticulously careful of what they wore in public, in case their pic ended up on the internet, or who they might run into.
I replied that that was no way to live one's life, in constant fear like that, always afraid of what others thought or of the possibility of one's pic ending up on the net, like that would be the worst thing ever. I got some people agreeing with me.
That said, I don't wear PJ's in public, it looks sloppy. Somebody somewhere once said that wearing jammies in public creates an atmosphere of forced intimacy. Because normally you would only see PJs on people you were close to- close enough to sleep with, or at least close enough to spend the night at their house, or have them visit yours. I agree with that.

so someone thinking about hiring you for a job-to represent his company isn't affected in any way shape or form by how you present yourself in public?
I guess those criminal background checks are just for fun then, as are pre-employment drug tests-after all those things obviously don't affect your job performance right?
As a potential boss I know I'd be thinking "this person doesn't even have the drive to get dressed in the morning, I do not want a lazy slob like that working for me/representing my company" And I'd also be worried you show up for work looking like that.

How we dress in our off-time does not neccessarily reflect how we dress for work. Some of us DO get that different types of clothing are suited for different situations. (Not that I'm defending PJ's in public, but I don't think we should be expected to dress "work ready" all the time either)

It's a sad but true fact that first impressions DO count, so most people's impression of you if you turn up to shop in dirty, sagging PJs and bunny slippers will be that you're a lazy slob. You can't change that part of human nature; it's present in everyone. Everyone, no matter how much they might deny it, is making all these little snap judgements on people all the time. "Slut," at a girl wearing hotpants and a low cut top. "Suit" at a guy wearing a suit. "Aww" perhaps to a cute baby. Not outloud maybe, but in your head.
If you genuinely don't care about people looking at your stained, skidmarked PJs and making the assumption that you're a lazy arse who can't be bothered to make themselves presentable, then more power to you. I personally have more respect for myself than to appear in public in my night attire. True, I don't dress up to the nines just to go food shopping; but I'm at least wearing clothing that's clean and reasonable for day time wear; ie, a t-shirt and trousers.
Note: This is in no way directed at anyone who might want to wear clean PJ bottoms, for example. Have you seen those harem pants that are in fashion now? To me, they look like PJ bottoms; it would be hard to tell the difference sometimes between those and night attire. This is more directed to those who show up to shop in dirty and yucky night attire and believe me, I have seen it. -.- And ffs, wear underwear. O_o What's seen cannot be unseen..."Oh wow, I can't believe how stupid I used to be and you still are."

I wear jeans on my days off but I still look clean and presentable should I run into anyone I might want to impress. My clothes, while not appropriate for work, are appropriate for running errands on a day off.
Now, if I was the kind of person who thought that wearing pajamas and slippers was appropriate clothing for running errands in public (in the middle of the day), potential employers would be right to question my judgment when it came to clothing choices. My idea of "work appropriate" might be vastly different from theirs.
I saw a woman who had applied for a job at our store shopping there the other day. She hadn't washed her hair in days. I don't know if she'd start washing her hair if we hired her. Maybe she would without any prodding. All I know is that there's enough instruction I have to give my staff without teaching them to take care of basic personal hygiene and making good wardrobe choices. If they can't do that on their own, I don't want them working for me.

I honestly don't care what people wear.
However, I do draw the line at some things. Such as the little six year old girls with JUICY on their ass, or wearing shirts that say HOT STUFF .
Seriously... what parents would buy that stupid crap?
Nor do I like seeing men and woman in bathrobes in public.. I don't care if your cute ether. I just can't see that being a good thing. Even if it just across the street. Doesn't take much for a weak girl to get raped with that, nor does it take much for a guy to be slapped with indecent... yeah.
Other then that? I Don't think I really care. Hell, I've seen overweight men wearing thong, and it was covered enough not to see, so yay.
I've seen men in dresses. I've seen woman in suits. (Which is strangly very arousing to me. Must be the Annie Lennix crush I had).
I understand the whole dress to impress crap. Belive me, I've more then one time had my best friend scream at me because my belt is on backwards. (I honestly don't know how to tell). He always ranting on me that no girl will date me if I have a belt on backwards. My usual retort that if a girl isn't going to date me due to a belt, she won't date me based on my eyes first then that since she so gung ho on clothes that she won't date a guy based on a fucking belt.
I still wear clean clothes. I have a slightly sloppy style. I tend to wear slightly oversize shirts that aren't tucked in, and bigger pants around teh legs. (I don't wear pants below my waist. That is so fucking annoying. However, I'm so skinny, that even with belts, some of my pants still show it. However my oversize shirt tends to cover it unless your really staring hard for it. Which is naturally my pal whom is clothes fanatical.
Yet I can get some dates while he cant. Hmm.Toilet Paper has been "bath tissue" for the longest time, and it really chaps my ass - Blas
I AM THE MAN of the house! I wear the pants!!! But uh...my wife buys the pants so....yeah.

I've seen some crazy shit out there....women wearing tube tops with bra straps showing, people with pants hanging off their ass, shirts inside out.
Plaid the way you dress sounds fine to me....I tend to wear comfortable clothes, oversize shirts as well and I never tuck anything in. In fact I've been known to wear LOTS of tye dye stuff....have a friend who's into that as a hobby what can I say...
I don't usually go out in pajama pants BUT I have to admit I did it a few times when I went down to the small store that was next door to my old apartment...and I THINK I did it the day I wandered up to walgreens on a day I had a massive migraine and needed my meds BAD.
As for the belt thing I'm confused...how is it backwards? As long as the buckle is in front that's what matters right?https://www.youtube.com/user/HedgeTV
