  • Man cleared got smeared

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...aking-sex.html

Gary Taylor's life will never be the same. After a late night consensual sexual encounter he found himself being arrested for the alleged rape of the woman whose name has not been disclosed.

He had video proof that cleared him of any wrongdoing. His name has been plastered all over the papers. The woman it turned out was lying her name has been withheld.

How is this fair and just?

I personally feel that both names should be kept out of the press til the case has been resolved. If the woman turns out to be a lying bitch, then she should be a) charged with perverting the cause of justice and b) have her name plastered all over the news. This is cuz women who tell lies about rape are just ruining things for the genuine victims, and no man deserves to have that hideous label tagged on to him cuz of some vicious, lying slag.

Our local paper will not print names until it actually gets ruled on in court, and then they print the name of the convicted.

I agree this woman's name should also be released for making a false statement.
      Point to Ponder:

Is it considered irony when someone on an internet forum makes a post that can be considered to look like it was written by a 3rd grade dropout, and they are poking fun of the fact that another person couldn't spell?

Charges should most definitely be brought against her for what she did.

I don't think either names should have been published but as his was her's should as well. From some of the comments it sounds as if there might be some law over there that protects her name but as I don't live there I don't know.

I think the woman should get the same number of years in jail that the man would have gotten if he had been convicted.

Harsh... I agree that she should serve some time, but I've seen men get thrown into prison for years for rape. Hell, it was in a paper recently (and People magazine did a special on it) where a man served 17 years for a rape he didn't do. He finally got released when DNA proved he was innocent, and they found the real scum. What I found amazing was he became good friends with the woman that put him in there in the first place. I don't think I could be friends with the woman who kept screaming and pointing her finger at me screaming rapist rapist rapist! Though to be fair, they did show pictures of the two men, and they could be twins. But it still, man oh man, they had so much proof he didn't do it at the time! Like, fucking video survience of him in a store buying stuff at the time of so called rape that was happening across town, yet they still found him guilty.

Maybe five years for perverting the cause of justice?

The really sad thing about all this, is that women like this are just going to make it all the harder for genuine rape victims to come forward. They'd be scared of being lumped in with the liars.

ITA!!! More criminals will go free because of the innocent people that were accused because some pathetic human being regretted their sexual choices. Deal with it I say.

                  Let's see,

                  Filing a false police report.
                  Slanter and/or libel.
He should also sue her for all damages (attorney's fees etc..)

This just goes how sexist the media can be - a woman cries rape and they do whatever they can to "protect" her identity but they plaster the man as some monster.

Now, it's proven in court that the opposite was true so they're doing what? Protecting her identity.

The obvious answer is to jail this ratfaced, lying bitch for the same amount of time that he would've spent in jail had he been convicted.

I completely agree. I think lying about rape and/or molestation is as low as it gets. These days, it's almost like pointing the finger and crying "Witch!". Either way, the accused is pretty much screwed.

As an aside of levity, do they weigh the accused against a duck?

This very thing happened to a Jr High teacher in my hometown. A girl accused him of approaching her sexually and sending her sexual texts. This teacher was stupid enough to give his number to students, so they could ask for homework help. She asked him a homework question via text and he said "We can take care of that in the morning." So she goes around, accusing him. His name is smeared all over the news, he was fired, etc.

Then, she came out and said she lied about the entire thing. Did he get his job back? No. Did this lying part get put in the news? No.

This man was pressured to leave the community and now his life is ruined. Though this girl is a minor, she still knows the difference between right and wrong and definitely needs some juvie time for that.
