That is a fine philosophy but the guy probably isn't a feminist and probably isn't dedicated to stomping out bigotry to the point of making waves at his job

Hes really shrugged it off as a "whatever" kind of deal so far. He knows there is already a huge stigma attached to him being a guy working at a daycare center but he really just loves kids in the good way and wants to go into education.
Nobody really raised a stink, I just found it so... insane... that a guy that sweet and nice can't change a diaper or change clothes because of the simple fact that hes a guy.
Then again, our parents are insane. Little Kumuat's teachers' views vary in some way from my own?! THEY MUST BE THE SPAWN OF EVIL I WILL NOT HAVE MY KIDS UNDER THEIR CARE.

Is the male employee being paid the same as the female employees?
If he is, then the female employees should complain, since they are being expected to do more work for the same salary than their co-worker is.
On the other hand, if he's not . . . If the female employees have to do more work than their male co-worker, but they're also getting paid more for it . . . In my opinion, that's not fundamentally different from, for example, an employee working more hours and getting a higher paycheck for it than another employee. Provided, of course, that they are being given the same opportunities for advancement.
In that case, the women wouldn't really have grounds for a complaint. He, however, would, since he's essentially being denied the opportunity for job advancement simply because of his gender.
But, as has been pointed out, this man is already being viewed with suspicion simply because he's a man working with children.
If he starts fighting for the right to take equal shares in the work . . . There will almost certainly be some people who will view that as proof that he is a child molester. It'd be hard to make paranoid people like that understand that he might just be trying to make more money.

What really troubles me about that is that you just know there are some people who would hear about those playgrounds and say, "Why would they ban women from being there without children with them? Go ahead and ban the men, sure, but there's no reason to ban women."
One of my co-workers once mentioned reading about a school that actually banned parents from attending some school event because of a fear of child molesters.
According to my co-worker, there was a person who commented on that story, and actually said, "I can understand them banning the fathers for that reason, but why couldn't they have let the mothers in? I suppose they were afraid of getting sued for discrimination or something, but it's kind of ridiculous that they wouldn't let the mothers in."
. . . Yeah. Okay."Well, the good news is that no matter who wins, you all lose."

If anything he would probably be considered for job advancement since a promotion would likely mean dealing less with children. Even so, if it isn't his permanant job he should be glad he doesn't have to do so much work. He has no reason to complain about the treatment.

Men can most definitely change diapers- in fact, most daddies get to change their kid's very first diaper, since mom usually can't get out of bed at that point.
I think the fear of child molesters/pedophiles/kidnappers is at hysteria levels, mostly thanks to the media which relentlessly covers every case of a kid being snatched, raped and murdered. These cases are relatively rare, and most molestation cases take place within the family.
It's sad that men who like children are labeled as pedos. Many kids don't have a father figure and they need other male role models; teachers, mentors or just a friend. But maybe these men who are willing to spend time helping kids won't do it for fear of being labeled a pervert. I have even read of a case where a man was shopping in a store with his daughter- and another customer called the cops on him for being a pedophile, since he was walking around with a kid.
And I agree that if the women are doing more work, they deserve more pay. From this story and your others, Mei, this day care is run in a really bizarre way.

As the article I linked showed, women are not excempt from being pedophiles. Also, a lot of the hysteria ignores the fact that the vast majority of children are molested by someone they know, even by their own parents and relatives. The only way to keep children safe is to educate them on improper touching and what to do in those circumstances, as well as the generic "stranger danger"."Oh wow, I can't believe how stupid I used to be and you still are."
