And the mother would choose her child's life.

I think it's silly and selfish a woman her age had to have a child, knowing she wasn't going to live that long.

Surely the child is not an orphan by any means, and I'm not saying the child should have never happened, because Lord knows, it could be the next president, but it just befuddles me that some women are so obsessed with being mothers that they will go through dangerous procedures and great measures just to have that baby.

Maybe but not for the sake of the child.

The mother is having a child becuase her culture says she isn't a complete human being unless she pops out a kid.

This poor little girl is left motherless thru no fault of her own, at an age where she needs her mother.
There are plenty of situations I've read up about this, not necessarily from India either. Most of them seem to be women who just wanted to be a mother but couldn't due to one reason or another. There's a reason why menopause exists.

Being a mother means raising your children not just giving birth to them.
So they'd take tremendous strain on their bodies over 18 years of raising a kid?

If it's something like childbirth, then yes, there should be a restriction. I've heard of a 90-year-old lady getting a Master's Degree. That I don't have a problem with. But bearing in mind that there is more than one life at stake here after a period of time, I'm pretty sure that there's a reason why IVF treatments are restricted.

I wonder how men are considered to be "complete human beings" since they can't pop out a kid and all....

Many cultures do believe that men aren't complete until they've fathered a child, preferably a son.
