Maybe they are passing people because if a school fails too many students, they get less funding? So white/black/aqua/pink/whatever skinned people get passed regardless of real grades/attendance so schools can keep getting money.
Actually, if you read it, you read that this school was closing and most of the teachers gave her a passing grade so that they would get a more favorable reference from principal to apply at other schools. Especally since alot of schools look at how many students you pass, because that MUST mean that said teachers are aweome and great to teach so many students that they pass.

I mean, her last two tests were done in front of a computer, and was even allowed to use google, and she STILL barely passed the tests. That is some powerful dumb.

Can you back that statement up with actual facts?
Can we get examples and statistics on how often this happens?

I'm sure you must have some kind of actual proof to back up your racist conclusions under that bridge somewhere.
      Point to Ponder:

Is it considered irony when someone on an internet forum makes a post that can be considered to look like it was written by a 3rd grade dropout, and they are poking fun of the fact that another person couldn't spell?

Yup I do and they do, but it's not exactly something I can post a link to, this is from my friend who's an english teacher, I've read through his classes material and their work, some of these kids are barely literate and can't do anything more complex that addition and subtraction and we're talking years 10-11, but they're still passing and going on to graduate.

Well, I guesse your antedotal example of somebody passing one class is the same as a news story about somebody getting a dimploma they don't deserve.

And I still challenge everybody to show an example of a white student getting the same treatment. She obviouisly got this because she is black and the powerful black groups like the NAACP only has to cry racist to get something or somebody demonized. Just look at the greeting card thread. The card obviously wasn't racist to anybody with a brain, but the NAACP just has to mention racism and all of a sudden everybody backs down rather then showing some backbone.

I already did: the majority of my high school class. You'd see kids get grades all year long like 25s, 30s, but get passed anyone because teacher's were pressured too heavily to not fail anyone. And my high school was over 99% white.

            Was the NAACP mentioned in
the article about pressuring the school to pass her? I must have missed that. And the one event has nothing to do with the other. Not once does race seem to play an effect here.

Still haven't figured out why you insist on making this a race issue. As you've been told-repeatedly-black kids aren't the only kids who graduate/get promoted undeservedly. Should I have alerted the media when one of my music students (white, parents worked for NASA) was given a passing grade even though he did not have his method book (lost it, refused to have it replaced) for an entire semester?

You have absolutely no evidence to back this up, and when asked to provide it, you say, "Well, show me a white kid who would get the same treatment."

That's ridiculous. The onus is on you to prove your argument. You can't just make some statement out of the blue and have everyone accept it as fact until they prove you wrong. Debate doesn't work like that.

There have been a lot of stories in the last year or two about entire school districts doing this. Parents suing schools for flunking morons. Teachers not being allowed to give anything less than 60%, even if the kid doesn't even show up, let alone do any work, because receiving a bad grade might 'damage their self-esteem'

I think the whole generation is going to be in a lot of trouble when they reach the job market after an entire childhood of being told that working hard and doing nothing will get you the exact same result because the most important thing is that your feelings not be hurt.

If it hasn't happened yet, I'm sure we'll soon see a parent in their 60's suing a business for promoting Billy over Timmy, even though Billy doubled sales this month and Timmy spent the entire years marketing budget on hookers and blow in Vegas.

What I'd like to know is why the school district waits until 21 to 'age out' a failing student. As far as I'm concerned, once you hit 18, if you're not doing the work required, you shouldn't get to come back.

Most schools have alternative schools or GED programs that go until 21. Somebody at 18 might be an idiot but less of an idiot at 20.

100% of the cases of this happening I am aware of are this black girl. I have not been shown any evidence of a non black girl getting the same treatment. I am aware of many white people flunking out of high school.

My girlfriend had to drop out of school her junior year for personal problems. She came back at 20 and finished her schooling, and was able to walk the stage. Sometimes, it's not because someone's slacking that they graduate from high school later in life.

You mention people getting passing grades for classes. You do not mention somebody getting a diploma without any passing grades at all. There is a huge differance

I can't believe how lazy that girl is, she doesn't go to school and when she does she doesn't even try but yet still expects to graduate? I knew the school system regarding graduation requirements was bad from what I've seen personally, but this is absolutely insane! She should NOT have had her grades changed or gotten her diploma, in life if you want something you have to work for it.
