    My dad had an effective way to keep me from reporting false claims, he'd just point out that he was the CPS worker for the county and he would just ignore whatever I reported.

      But that opens a whole other can of worms, doesn't it?

      What if you really were being abused?

      Is there some kind of system of checks and balances there?

        There's always somebody higher up. And the state level wouldn't take kindly to one of their county officers doing the very things he's supposed to prevent.

        But hey, telling you that worked

          He was just joking. There are typically more then one CPS worker in a county.
