  • Okay, I apparently can't spend money anywhere in this country

So, (remaining as calm as I can all things considered), Best Buy apparently saw Target donate large sums of money to a candidate that is running on a platform of God hates fags and decided, hey, you know what we should do, we should join them.
Yup, Best Buy clicky here for article has donated 100k to Mr. Emmer. Rather unfortunate considering they had damned good financing terms.
Though, if you must know exactly what I plan to do, rather than blow up like with Target (now that the initial shock is done that I've through my support of the company has supported my own discrimination), I will very calmly and therapeutically shred my best buy card, take it, along with a letter to be passed onto corporate explaining exactly why they are canceling my card, demand the card be canceled on the spot, and then leave and not come back.

Smiley...you're acting rationally? And...it's raining in July in Texas...?

*runs away screaming "It's the End Times!"*

PS: Kidding aside, I do think this is a much better way to get your point across.

HUGS!!! Now that is how you need to go about getting back at these companies! I'm proud of you for this! And I think that I may be writing a letter or two to both companies expressing my dislike of their choices. Keep us posted on how Best Buy handles this. I'm sure corporate will have some interesting things to feed to you in a letter back...

Donating to a group that supports one of many candidates, that has a connection to a guy that allegedly made a homophobic statement that cannot be verified(trust me I've looked, for hours)=/=donating to a hate group or even to the candidate-it's bad math and horrible logic. Yup they support more than just that one guy-and guess what, not all of the candidates they support are against marriage equality-imagine that-people with the common ground of supporting business differ on other things....

Remember it is ILLEGAL for them to directly support any candidate-which is why they donated the money to a non-partisan group-that group is running ads for candidates(note that is candidates plural-not singular-it's not all about this one candidate that you don't like-but that's all your misdirected anger will let you see) that a running on a pro-business platform-that is all they are looking at, because that is the most important to their supporters. do you agree 100% with all policies and platforms the candidate you vote for holds, or do you just pick out the ones that are important to you? Guess what that's what they do as well.

If a candidate up for election in your state was for marriage equality, but against busing kids over the age of 10 to public schools-would you care about that? You don't have kids, why would that concern you?

Maybe you need to read the letter from Target's CEO-FYI Minnesota Forward is also supported by the Minnesota chamber of commerce-because of their backing of candidates that support businesses-and that's all they look at, stances on anything other than pro-business is irrelevant to them.

Heck McCain was for full Marriage equality, Obama supported the "seperate but not quite equal" civil unions(and has now bailed on that as well)-Did you vote for McCain or did he have other things on his platform you didn't like?(I don't care who you voted for-just proving a point-voted for Nader myself as both McCain and Obama had a different stance than I did on issues that were important to me)

If you would like a better analogy:

I donate $5000 to my local animal shelter(we do not have no-kill shelters-there is no such thing, they just take them to the kill shelter so as not to dirty their hands with it)-I do not get to tell them how to utilize my donation-it becomes theirs. Do I want it used for food and medication?-yes, do I want it to pay for the drugs to euthanize unwanted pets?-no, as I don't believe in that. Will it be used for that?-possibly. Now because my donation may be used to euthanize animals does that now mean I advocate and support the euthinization of unwanted pets? I most certainly do not-by using the logic you've applied to this situation, I do, and I may as well be the one standing there giving the injection. I don't agree with everything they do, however I've decided to take the good with the bad and donate anyway, as taking care of homeless animals is more important to me than not supporting the euthinization of unwanted pets. Do you see the flawed logic you are using?
