I heard this story on CBC's As It Happens program this evening (Friday Oct. 15, 2010)
from the hallowed halls of YALE University a fraternaty that STILL DOES NOT GET that it is the 21st century.

this incident the gist of the 2 articles is contained in this quote
these types of pledge "activities" apparently have been an on-going problem at Yale as refernced by this article from Sept 2009
http://www.yaledailynews.com/news/20...gets-freshmen/
so in the end I assume that Yale (since it seems to have NOT performed a proper investigation or handed out sever disciplinary actions) still considers (after 40 years the last holdout of the "Ivy" league schools to admit women) women to be non entities. engrained culture dies slowly does it not???
the campus WOmens Center has tried to deal with this sort of "behavior" in the past but to little effect. AIH had an interview with the Head of the Campus Womens Center. she stated that a "meeting" took place with representatives of DKE, seveal Admin Deans and the Womens Center. the DKE's "apologized" but she feels the "apology" was just a cover and not really all that scincere.
the funny thing is is if these statements were to have been directed at Black or Latino students, the outrage would have been deafening.
it seems that the Yale administration is just taking the incident as
(from one of the comments of the last article)
my feeling is is that the President of the local DKE chapter AND the Rush chairman should be expelled (yes it will absolutly ruin their lives and yes they deserve this), the local chapter of the fraterity should be disbanded or banned and or at the very least kicked off campus or severly restricted in its activities

Just in from the "What-Year-Is-This?" Department - Ivy League Division. And a warning: this is not a story for young or tender ears.
It's about a group of wanna-be frat boys at Yale University. They were performing a series of tasks in an effort to win entry to one of the most prestigious fraternities on campus, Delta Kappa Epsilon (or DKE). One of those tasks was to chant misogynist slogans across Yale's Old Campus -- which is home to almost all of the new female students on campus.
There was a meeting today between members of DKE and some Yale women, and attended by two deans.
Hannah Zeavin attended that meeting. She's the managing editor of Broad Recognition, a feminist magazine on campus. We reached her earlier today in New Haven, Connecticut. And again, a warning: some of the language in this interview is disturbing.

Begin*ning around 9:30 pm, members of the DKE (Delta Kappa Epsilon) fraternity marched with their pledges around Yale’s Old Campus (the home of almost all of Yale’s fresh*man women (add: this is important)) chant*ing slo*gans such as “No means yes, yes means anal” and “My name is Jack, I’m a necrophil*iac, I f— dead women, and fill them with my semen.”

I can understand Dean Miller's hesitation to make any official statement yet, but I echo BR 2010. Don’t treat this incident lightly. Don’t slap wrists and pardon with a boys-will-be-boys, this-is-only-a-joke attitude. Don’t call sexual harassment by another name.
a couple athletic recruits and fratboys here have an incredibly undeserved notion that by being at Yale they are entitled to be inhumanly obnoxious and often sexist. not saying they're all like this, but mob psych. is powerful in teams/in frats.
