  • Prankster shot dead after egging Mercedes

    http://www.app.com/article/20101101/...gging-Mercedes

My first thought after reading the article was, "Who is dumb enough to egg a moving car? You know someone is in it and can come after you."

My second thought was, "Was it REALLY necessary to fire 10 shots at some kid just for egging your car?"

I'm of a similar mind. Of course, egging the moving car can be dangerous too and the teen did instigate it. I could see why the guy would have a knee jerk reaction, but shooting the kid dead? I think both were in the wrong on this one.

um did you miss this part?

fatally shot the prankster in the neck and throat as he tried to run away
not legal to shoot a fleeing suspect...

edited to add:found a better article

The driver returned to the scene with a gun. as in did not have one on him at the time of the incident-left, got gun, came back and then shot the teen

so yeah DEFINITELY not a "knee-jerk reaction"

I got that part, and I believe he was way out of line for going after the kid and killing him over something minor. Obviously, he's a danger to society if he's going to be shooting people so liberally. And if he wasn't in the car and it wasn't moving, then he's just an asshole. If he was in the car, he's still an asshole for shooting him, but the kid was even stupider for doing it. He didn't deserve to die and that really does suck, but I don't know. Neither were in the right (though obviously the guy who shot the kid was the greater evil here).

EDIT: read the other article. Guy was an asshole. Should have called the police instead.

Yep. While egging a car is nowhere near as wrong as shooting someone in the back as they are running away, I have to say that the kid's stupidity was on Forrest Gump levels.

According to this article, the shooter was described as

a black male in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a red M & M jacket. Police said the gunman was driving a gold, four-door Mercedes with a red temporary tag.
Anyone egging that car was just begging for a Darwin Award. The thing I'm most surprised about was that the shooter actually had to go and get a gun first.

            wow-stereotype much

Sorry I've been to Atlanta-I'm much more afraid of the confederate flag wearing white rednecks than a mid-20s African-American.

Actually, I was referring to the "person with no dress sense driving a modified gold merc stereotype", rather than race.

I'm afraid of anyone in bigger cities.

I was beside myself at Mall of America the other day, well, actually, in the Twin Cities in general. I'd never want to live there.

Police did respond first, but had to go to something more important. That's when man left to get gun.

I'm pretty sure this qualifies as 1st Degree Murder.
