  • 9 year old to climb Everest?

    Maybe....

    http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapc...imb/index.html

Granted, the kid is Sherpa, and genetically able to surive high altitude more sothan other kids....but I'm not sure about this one. I do admit I suported Jordan Romero (the 13 yr old) but he had bagged more peaks than this kid has.

I have a feeling the 2011 Everest year is going to be interesting. If this kid does climb, I wish him a safe return.

Gotta say, his father climbed Mt. Everest in freaking eight hours is freaking insane.

If the kid is willing to do it and there are safety precautions then go for it.

I kinda have to wonder about the father thou. Could he really be pushing the kid to do this?

Oh come on. It's obvious the father is pushing the kid to do it. Father has already gone on record stating that only Sherpas should hold records for Everest, (Thus all the insane records he has for it), but was also greatly dissappointed that an /outsider/ grabbed record for being youngest.

Seeing as he is the best climber for Everest hands down, he likely feels his son is the best canidate for youngest climber since he has his genes, and he's personally trained him. Pushing for the pride of the Sherpa on top of that.

It's do it and make me proud, or die on the mountain mentality.
