Now I can't stop thinking about it! Like... if you buy what he has in stock now, then he can afford to stock better things in the future, maybe? That's the best I can figure.

Sounds like one of those zen riddles to me. Like you may not think you want it, but once you get it, you'll realize you wanted it all along. Still doesn't make much sense, but neither did anything else the owner said.

Unfortunately, you're always going to have people like this. They all think that their prices are golden, and that customers will kiss their ass. $8 for a carton of eggs? Sorry, not happening. Instead, I'll hit up the supermarket, and take advantage of every one of their sales.

sadly "organic, free-range eggs"(this was a "totally organic store")-that is close to what people pay here. It comes with free smug though. And that's about it-organic farming is worse for the environment(they can use pesticides, but they are 10x more toxic than the synthetics used today-and more applications are needed for the same effectiveness), produces much smaller yields per acre, and has been scientifically proven to be no different at any level than conventionally produced food.

I've actually had that discussion with the food snob in my office. She's constantly going on about what I choose to eat. But, pigs with fly out of my ass before I'll spend $8 on eggs. They taste exactly the same as the cheap ones at Giant Eagle, plus there's no health benefit at all. But, what do I know...I don't spend all my time reading men's health magazines. Instead, I get my health advice from my mother...who works for the county health department as a supervisor

well just let her know that the most commonly used on organic produce "natural" pesticide has an LD50* of 60mg/kg while the newest synthetic pesticide has an LD50 of 425mg/kg. Or that the most commonly used "organic" pesticide is oil-yup that's great for the planet.


*LD50=lethal dose in 50% of lab rats

Of course it was the customers' faults. See, he had the products that people only sort of wanted at a price that few wanted, and therefore it was their fault.
