Politician calls police on children for selling cupcakes

So a couple of kids are selling cupcakes and other baked goodies being productive learning about business and money, and a local politician calls the cops on them cause they don't have a permit, then when parents get pissed he's like "well maybe calling the cops on them wasn't the best idea."

That's like calling the cops on a lemonade stand or the Girl Scouts when they sell cookies.

What an idiot. I'm hoping he'll release an official apology to those kids soon. I didn't see anything in the article about them doing it as a fundraiser for school or their church, but could you imagine if they were?

Welcome to a litigious world.

I remember an article in the newspaper...it was an column written by someone, can't remember who. It basically talked about an event being held that was designed to foster multiculturalism.

Yeah....the organisers had to fill out SO much paperwork for the event that it wasn't funny. At a minimum, they should've had a Liquor License, food safety certificate and public liability insurance. Instead, they needed about another 30 permits and forms filled out before the event could take place.

Well, in a rather roundabout way, the kids are learning a lot more about how business works than they imagined they ever would.

So, what could have been a valuable lesson for the boys turns into a scary ordeal because someone who should be old enough to know better overreacted. I don't see his career going much of anywhere in local politics unless he really does some serious triage on his image.

This guy practically handed his opponent the win in the next election. What he should have done is gone up to the boys and explained about getting a permit and how that works. Maybe he could have even had the appropriate paperwork with him. They still would have had to shut down temporarily but it would have still been better for his image.

Funny. When I had my own kool-aid/soda/drink empire stands, I never had that.

I did have employees stealing from me. I never hired a 1st grader again. Nor a 4th grader. Strictly second-third graders only.
