Except that when this same exact situation of tampering with your soda to make it unfit for consumption comes up in a COCW post, things that aren't generally used for consumption are frowned on because they will get you in trouble. You can't lace your Dew with ex-lax, or with urine. This is why you use hot sauce, as you can simply claim that is how you drink it.

In this case, even if no physical harm was done, the social harm can be deemed recoverable damages, and since the bottle of Mountain Urine was clearly not intended to be drank by "Todd", it's a pretty clear case of boobytrapping, which leaves Todd up a creek.

I fail to see a problem with boobytrapping it. IMO, the blame lies solely on the bully. If he had let it be, "Todd" would probably have poured it out later. As for social harm, boo fucking hoo. Serves him right.

if it hasn't been said, unless the kid was sick with something urine is sterile once it leaves the body. and unless the traces of mountain dew or metal can had something diseased on or in it then that too shouldn't be much of a concern. Or if the can was left out for hours on end then it should have been clean even though its the stuff being flushed out by the kidneys. still gross but the point is that the school is saying the bullies parents should press charges then "not get involved" uh wasn't saying press charges getting involved?

I am actually kind of sad at some of the responses to this.

What if this were a different situation, say a bully customer and a worker? Would it be okay then?

And no, I don't like bullies. I was bullied for a huge chunk of my school career. If you want to get back at a bully, find some other way. If the parents were to sue, this bullied boy's innocence in the situation might just be thrown out the window. While some of us think of it as justifiable revenge, a court most likely won't see it that way.

I am NOT defending the bully. I am only being realistic here.

Besides it's illegal? Besides intent to harm someone?

For the same reason you don't put a bear trap in your bathtub and you don't trap food you leave in the company fridge.

It's not legal. End of story.

Whether you feel it's ok, or that "Brian" deserved it is completely and utterly irrelevant to the questions posed.

But He wasn't booby trapping something that innoncent person would get hurt from. Someone would have to go OUT of their way, brutally, to get slightly hurt.

Huge difference from say, peeing in a cup and giving it to a customer that you hate.

The only way the bully owuld have gotten it, is if he grabbed it from him. That is the only way he got his mouth full of piss. He leave kid alone, no piss.

                Easy.

It wasn't the smartest thing to do, and he probably should have talked to the school first, but god damn is that hillarious! The bully got what he deserved. If he hadn't used force to take what didn't belong to him, this whole thing could have been avoided.

it wasn't in a company fridge though, it was in his backpack that actually makes a world of difference.

Urine is sterile, the bully is not going to get any diseases. If it were blood/feces/puke/sperm, that'd be different.

Personally, I would have just laced the Mountain Dew with some Visine or made Ex Lax cookies or something and given him the shits.

Actually, unless you can prove that "Todd" knew that urine was sterile prior to pissing in the bottle, 'intent to harm' will still be a valid charge. Possibly something like 'criminal mischief' or the like.

Considering that there is precious little information given, there's no way to even begin to know what laws would apply.

Which is only one of the reasons I think the whole thing is just a fun little tale to make people feel all rosy about a bully getting his comeuppance.

I feel rosey about it, and I'm not ashamed and no one will make me feel ashamed.

Respect other people and their stuff, or drink their piss.

Even if it isn't a true story or is exaggerated....it warmed my heart today.

Oh, just to kill some people's buzzkill, urine is not always sterile when it comes out of the body. It's sterile when it comes from the kidneys but from then on, it can be contaminated with bacteria.

The bully got what was coming to him. The problem was it was illegal to do and the kid is going to have to pay for it.
