And yet, I didn't have to try cigarettes to know for a fact it's bad for you.

I was the DARE speech winner, and I smoked for 11 years, a time or two had an out of control drinking habbit, have done Coke and speed and X.......

Yeah, but I learned. Cigarettes were the hardest to give up.

There's a difference between knowing and understanding.

my next door neighbour put a fag (UK meaning) in my mouth when I was about five when she was looking after me and my brother when my mum attended her dads funeral and our dad was away in the army.
dont recall much but a few years ago we were talking bout old stuff and she never knew this happened, nor did I know we ended up in foster care till mum came back, I always wondered why we were staying over at this other families house

anyway side tracking myself (again) I did't take up smoking behind the bike shed like nigh on everyone at school, it left its mark and my older brother said it wasnt a case of "I've caught you with one your gonna have the whole packet" it was just stuck in my mouth like a dummy to a baby

I did hear a very effective but gross way to quit smoking is to smoke cigg after cigg until you make yourself sick. I didn't want to try that one but if I fall off the wagon here, you can bet I will try that one.

              NO!!!

              Do NOT do that girl.

Look, first off, don't think about if you fall of the wagon. Yeah, it's a valid fear, but don't dwell on it or you'd likely make yourself more apt to do it. Power of positive thinking and all that.

Second off, it's been shown that if you start smoking again after attempting to quit smoking, you can make yourself even more addicted.

Third off, smoking cig after cig until you make yourself sick, can also make yourself more addicted.

The two might balance themselves out for you, or they can make you far more addicted to cigs then you've ever been before, maybe like my dad's three packs a day addiction.

Don't risk it by smoking cig after cig, try other safer options first ok?

Hey, hey, I won that, too! But that was also the second time I took DARE. We'd moved between 5th and 6th grade--in my MT school they did it in 5th grade and in my ID school they did it in 6th grade. But twas still cool.

I never took up smoking...I think it's gross AND I'm allergic to cigarette smoke. So...it would be really stupid of me to take it up lol.

I wish I never started. It was the dumbest thing I ever did and it made me a slave to a nasty habbit for 11 years.

Let me get the original story straight...at a college party, people got drunk enough to pass out, and this made the news? Oh, there was energy drinks there...as well as OTHER drinks/substances (Which is really not mentioned by anyone other than the (former) makers of the energy drink).

I'm over 40 years old, and when I was in college, we didn't have 'energy drinks'...so we drank safer drinks, like jungle juice (Everclear and fruit punch, basically...normally around a 50% mixture, and Everclear is grain alcohol) or one of my favorites at the time 151 'n mt dew...And yet, this rarely made the news. I know when my kids go off to college, I would *FAR* prefer them to drink something that's based off a beer rather than anything harder..even if it does come with a stimulant as well. Drink these too much, you pass out...slam everclear too fast, you *die*... And I don't really think anyone believes college kids are going to stop drinking, or stop getting drunk, no matter how 'attractive' the advertising is or is not

Pretty sure alcohol is the bigger danger in this case.

I just did one of those online BAC calculators. If I drank one of the 12% Four Lokos, which is 22 oz., I'd have a BAC of 0.087 if it took me 30 minutes. That's legally drunk. Chugging it down would put me at a 0.097. 4.8 hours to get it all out of my system.

Which is WHAT people do. They chug the F*** out of those. Several of them. Both those of age, and those underage.

Since it's shown that a decent chunk cannot control it, because how /tasty/ it is too so many, they cut out the middle man by not selling at stores.

Now you want one, make it yourself or go to a bar.

I can't imagine drinking all of that at once. But then again, my friends and I are the sort of people who would nurse a drink like that, spreading it out over a decent amount of time.
22 oz? That seems like a lot for one drink. Hell, I would probably drink some, and save the rest for later.

Work for a convience store. A single person of ether gender will easily buy a dozen + of 22 oz, with just as much alchol and come back later to buy more. They're drunk and we have to deny them, so they just went across the street where the store owner didn't care.

A 22 oz to people that chug beer is like people that love soda drinking a 20 oz. It's fast and easy, and they go back for more.

No, you were right the first time. Caffeine is actually a controlled substance requiring proof of age.

My uncle managed to kill himself by ODing on powdered caffeine. And here we all thought the alcoholism would do him in.
