I couldn't even look at that picture they had of those young girls. One minute, we're complaining about kids growing up too fast, and then they do something like this.
When I was in middle school, people complained about the school having "cutest couple" contests for the sixth graders at the dances. Maybe now, they're having such things in third and fourth grade.
Did anyone else notice the expressions on those Stepford girls in the picture? Creepy as hell.

There's one thing that bothers me about the article:
"Keep your bodies like little girls’ because that’s what men like."
No, that is not what men like. What men like is when they are performing oral sex on a woman, they aren't coughing up hairballs. Also, hair traps smell. And not usually a good smell.
As far as the topic of 8 year olds getting waxed so they stop growing hair permanently, I'm curious as to what mother's tell their daughters is the reasoning for it.

This is probably a gross overshare, and please pardon me, but as soon as I saw hair growing down there as an older kid, I shaved it off and have been religiously ever since.
But I can't fathom that for 8 year olds. How many 8 year olds have pubic hair? That's alarming if a lot do.
Ugh, that's sickening. Now I am a major believer in trimming "down there", but I'm an adult and that's a choice I've made (for the reasons that Greenday lists, plus it's cleaner - btw, that argument goes for guys, too).
But these little girls don't even have hair! And their mothers are taking them someplace to let strangers pour hot wax around their privates!?! What. the. hell.
Never ask a woman to do something I wouldn't do to myself. (hair-wise...)

I don't expect my bf to go totally bare like I do, but damn it's nice when he does
I've found that there's just too much friction when both people shave.

That quote is from an author who wrote about the increasingly young age at which people are sexualizing young girls and that the phrase quoted is what they are most likely taking away from such rituals and ideals, not that it has any actual basis in fact.

Oh, that's easy. Hair is "yucky." Many of the same people who will object to the idea of little girls waxing their armpits will also totally freak out at pictures of women who don't shave theirs. Talk about a double-standard.
If we, as a society, are going to be so disturbed at the thought of unrestrained body hair, then we really shouldn't be surprised that appearance-conscious pre-teens (and their mothers) are going to want to make sure they don't have any hair for people to be grossed out over.

To be honest, yes, hair is yucky. It traps gross smells, especially in pubic regions and armpits. Skin feels better smooth.
As for being surprised that pre-teens are self-conscious wanting to do what "big girls" do...raise of hands, is anyone surprised? I'm sure as hell not.

I feel more like a woman when I don't have hair in my armpits, on my legs, my pubic area.........even that effing peach fuzz that just makes me ill. I feel like a man when I'm hairy. I want to be smooth and soft and sexy.
I tried to wax my legs once. I have thin, pale skin, so I ended up with huge, splotchy bruising all over, where the blood vessels broke.
No way am I trying that anywhere else on my body.
Also, it hurts.
What little girl wants to do this, or even knows about it? Oh right, it's their moms who never got to be a child model or beauty pageant queen so they are living through their children.
My husband is grossed out by the thought of women who shave their public hair, because it makes them look like little girls.

Personally, when a woman shaves her pubic hair, I think it just makes them look like...women with no pubic hair. But that's just me.

I like a nice, smooth area on my woman, but not because of looks. It is totally for feel.
Not just the "coughing up hairballs" argument that Greenday mentioned, but the actual act feels so much better when there isn't hair getting dragged into the act.
That said, I would have no problem if it was just armpit or leg waxing on an 8 year old if it truly will stop the hair growing. Hell, they won't have to worry about shaving or waxing as they get older.
Bikini waxing OTOH completely crosses the line. I don't care if is a trained professional, unless there is something medically wrong with a young girl down there, NOBODY should be touching them. Just the emotional damage that could be caused by that...fuck I know some girls that were pretty much traumatized on their first trip to the GYNO when they were teens. (Obviously that's probably a bit more intrusive, but fuck, 8 years old?)
