I know this is quite far from a library bathroom, but on several episodes of Lock Down on MSNBC, transgendered inmates are usually placed depending upon what kind of privates they have. Men who want to be women but still have a penis are put with men.

Although a lot of times they are segregated from the general population, usually the same with gay men, so that there isn't hate violence.

That doesn't always work and things always happen anyway, but just offering what I have watched and "learned".

I've worked with women who make men look iffeminate, one was over 6 foot tall and could scare the crap out of you if she were a bouncer, the woman in the video didn't look male height, but saying that I work with a woman who, although not as tall as the "bouncer" is taller than average.
I also saw on one UK police camera accident type show a woman who I could swear was a bloke, she was very boy raceresque shot hair etc, her mannerism said "male" yet I was told that she was infact a woman.

My old PE teacher at secondary school was tall and built like a rugby player, with cropped hair... she looked as tho she could beat the shit out of most men and had a deep voice, but definitely was a woman. I've also met some very fem men (and not all of them were gay) so if I did see a masculine looking woman in the ladies, I'd just assume that she was, well, a masculine looking woman. I might wonder if she was a lesbian, but since I'm assuming she went to the loo in a stall and locked the door rather than peeing in the sink, it would hardly affect me in any way.

I wonder if all of that was a misguided attempt at the school trying to avoid nasty rumors by being out in the open with it and saying "we know about this, and we're ok with it and there's nothing wrong with it." I guess most of my opinion rests on if the parents of the 10 year old and the 10 year old were ok with the announcement or not.

It needs to be reversed because there is no legal standard of what gender identity means,” said Dave Welch of the Houston Area Pastor Council
While I think overall he is probably against the rights of people who are transgendered, he does raise a valid point that they made a law saying "anyone who is x can do this" but there is no legal standard for defining x. Something like that can lead to trouble. I don't just mean in general either. Lets say you get a bunch of cases where it really was just a peeping tom or something similar. Stuff like that could definitely hurt the efforts being made to help the rights of transgendered people. Don't know how easy of a solution there is there but I can see how it could be a problem.

Then again, it's incredibly easy to tell the difference: a peeping tom will be, well, PEEPING, while a transwoman just going about her business will be acting the same as anyone else using the room normally.

So then, we'd need cameras in the bathroom. No 100 percent chance that it won't go online from a bad worker.

              Why I say that?

Well, any person can scream that someone is peeping simply because they don't like the person.

As a long time LGBT supporter..I have to say that if the person identifies as female, then that is what they are and should be treated as. Though in all honesty everybody should be treated the same regardless. Treat people how you want to be treated and all that.
