  • Bomb House

local and federal agents have uncovered what they describe as the largest illegal bomb making facility in US history. they have found the largest cache of 2 explosive compounds EVER in a San Deigo county home

    short version

    longer more detailed article

the house was FULL of junk, blasting caps volitial acid type chemicals, not yet live grenades, items of a suggested bank robbery, 2 different explosives (one of which is twitcher than nitro, etc.

the agents are searching and clearing the dwelling SLOWLY as to not accidently set off any traps or explosives. the entire street/block has bee sealed off and no one but residences are allowed access.

what is this guys MAJOR MALFUNCTION or mental state???????

Just making bombs doesn't mean intent to use bombs. People collect guns, do they shoot people left and right? People collect swords, do they slash and stab? People make swords, do they cut and slash?

All he has is two robberies, nether of which appears to have used a bomb. As is, he might generally just like the challenge of making a usuable bomb, or he may be just suicidal and wanted one to go off and destroy him.

Saying he has a mental state because he has a different intrest then you, is hardly nice.

      EEEEEEP!

The closest thing to that I've ever seen--and it was more in terms of just stupidity--was when a crack house was uncovered...like 2 houses away from the Catholic school. That wasn't brilliant.

      But bombs? YIKES!

This guy could have blown up half his block and everyone in it. One spark could have set the whole thing off. That's hardly nice either.

There's a reason why it's illegal to collect bombs the way someone might swords or guns.

No argument that he "isn't nice."

But criminal stupidity is not the same as being mental. Based on the article and his wife's statements (they didn't live together), he probably does have some serious issues.

On reading the article, even were the explosives inside the dwelling to go, it appears that the experts don't believe that the area beyond the houses adjacent and the section of street in front of the house in question would be in danger.

So, no, he couldn't blow up "half his block and everyone in it." It's unknown if he could even have done any substantial harm to the neighboring houses, although they are being kept empty until they can clear out the house.

What has me curious is how a man can amass that much material in only three years without anyone noticing anything while he was at it. Although another article mentions that he had made several trips to Mexico, so it's likely he picked up quite a bit of the materials while there.
