^True. On the other hand, why wouldn't the coach have warned them all about the dangers of particular positions? Particularly one like...that...

Considering that the move seems to be common enough and that it's also fairly controversial, the coach should have either taught them how to do it properly and when, or made a point of showing them what they weren't supposed to do.
I haven't read all of the various reports about the case, but based on some of the commentary I have read and the fact that the kid will not be charged so long as he completes three trivial actions, it seems to me that this is more a witch hunt than an actual case. It got too big, too fast, and because it hit the media, they can't back down and admit a mistake might have been made.

I don't think the freshman was a bully, either. I think someone completely outside of that dynamic is responsible.
One article I read said something about the freshman not being the one to put forth the original complaint.

Now a hit to the balls, that I could believe. I once had a guy slip a grip on me in a wrestling match and whang me good. I was so motivated by that I had him pinned before I knew what I was doing.

eta- I actually have seen that in porn before... so yes, very good startLast edited by smileyeagle1021; 01-23-2011, 10:15 AM."I'm Gar and I'm proud" -slytovhand

Pro-tip says, if his fingers went up the ass, it ain't normal. And even if you were wearing gym shorts instead of a wrestling singlet (which is a bad practice idea anyway), I can't see it happening in any way except intentional.

From everything I can find on the case, the senior in question was a bit of a bully. In an earlier incident, he took the younger student's water bottle, and when the other student tried to stand up to him, that's when the alleged threatening gesture was made. I honestly think the gesture wasn't anything people were trying to make it out to be. The senior did push the move in a manner that he shouldn't have; he admits as much.
However, one thing that I wonder in all of this; where was the coach, the teachers, and the "bullied" student's parents?
I find it bizarre that in yet another case of bullying where the victim's name is kept out of the papers, the victim's parent(s) is more than happy to step up and be named, which totally defeats the purpose of not naming the kid. The grandstanding by these kids' parents is sickening and cheapens the entire process.

Well, seeing as it was practice, I'm not sure why parents or teachers would be watching. As for the coach, he was probably going around the practice room. Even then, what would he have done? It's a move designed to move your opponent into a better position. He fucked up the move. It's not like if the coach was standing there it would have changed anything.Violence has resolved more conflicts than anything else. It doesn't sound at all like he did something he didn't intend to do.
As I stated before, there was already something of a history between the two students, and it sounds like during this practice, the victim was mostly just turtling against the senior rather than really practice his wrestling, so the move was employed to get him to be more active in the practice. The senior said it was "to get him to wrestle."
Based on how the senior's statements sound from the outside, I get the impression he considered this a normal option, which makes me wonder if it was used in that manner as a matter of course and since it was such a routine thing, nobody though anything of it until it got to this point.
