Let me ask the mothers here, if a stranger just walked up and put their hands on your child (without warning or asking or anything) and you didn't know why..what would your reaction be? (Sorry if this is too far off topic..please ignore)
    How about the dads?

Personally, I wouldn't have an issue at all with it, unless it was something inappropriate.

I guess I'm pretty trusting, but I've had strangers in resuarants play with my kids, there's nothing wrong with it. People in general love kids, and toddlers especially.

That said, I think this whole thing is pretty ridiculous. I don't think the Flight Attendant should have been fired, and I don't think he was "stupid" for playing with a customer's kid, especially since the Dad was in on it too.

I don't think the flight attendant should have been fired for playing with the kid, but the overhead bins are not a place to ever put people, even toddlers.

That said, the picture in the link the OP provided makes me laugh, since half her face doesn't agree with the other half. Her eyes and forehead are all concerned, but her mouth is pretty damn relaxed for a woman so upset. Plus, as pointed out earlier, the kid's expression makes a mockery of the whole case.

It's better than throwing them out the windows or out the door, which is what I was tempted to do with three little brats that were left alone in coach (in the row of seats right in front of my family), and they made a 4 hour flight seem like 12 hours. I have never in my life dealt with so much screaming, shrieking, and obnoxious laughter and loudness.

Where was the mom? In first class.

She should have been stuffed in the toilet.

A stranger wouldn't have to worry about my reaction, because there's no way my 2.5 year old son would allow it happen, without freaking out and crying. He's very shy and slow to warm up to people.

I do agree with the decision to fire the employee. I don't think it's wise for anyone to put their hands on a child that doesn't belong to them. And I don't think an overhead compartment is any place for a baby or toddler to be, even as a game, and even when the plane is not moving or in the air.

I am calling BS on the child having all those "issues," because of the trauma he endured. I'll bet money that mommy is taking him to those "specialists", so that she can attempt to sue the airline, and get her 15 minutes of fame.

Also my 2.5 year old son has nightmares, night terrors, wants to sleep in our bed, is afraid of the dark, and freaks out when we're not in his sight, and he's never been in an overhead compartment, or traumatized in any other way. In my opinion it's fairly typical toddler behavior.
