  • Japanese earthquake "payback for Pearl Harbour"

    http://youropenbook.org/?q=pearl+harbour&gender=any

To my mind, anyone who's moronic enough to believe this deserves a punch to the head, at the very least. It seems that disasters like this bring out the worst in human nature.
"Oh wow, I can't believe how stupid I used to be and you still are."

I've been seeing these too and they just make me want to slap the stupid out of people. THANKFULLY, I haven't seen any of these from people on my friends list.

There's an article on ESPN.com about the uproar caused by a female professional basketball player making similar comments. read it here

I thought Hiroshima and Nagasaki were 'payback' for WW2? How quickly people forget those. And by the way...there are a very few people alive anymore who even remember WW2 or were old enough to participate in it. So...it's payback doled out to a whole generation of people who had nothing to do with WW2?

People need to seriously get their heads out of their asses.

That's a horrible thing for anyone to think let alone say, I hope whoever posted that gets punched in the face.

Exactly. We won that war, it's in the past, let's move on.

Though I can't say I'm surprised that people are like this. Sadly...

Hmm, if this earthquake was payback for Pearl Harbor, then I don't even want to know what the payback for Hiroshima and Nagasaki would be.

My boyfriend saw this and pointed out that the Americans killed a lot more Japanese civilians, so technically not payback. Although I still lol'd at a bunch of the comments.

I'm waiting to see what happens with the Westboro Baptist Church nuts, who may end up expanding into the "this is what happens when the world tolerates homosexuals" tagline.

If you only look at the military losses, for every US military personnel lost at Pearl, Japan lost nearly 475.

If you look at the ratio in the whole Pacific Campaign, they lost 64 men for everyone one of ours that they took out.

Looking at the war in its entirety, counting civilians and military together, it's between 6.2 and 7.4 Japanese lost for every American lost.

We lost around 1,700 civilians. They lost between 500,000 and 1,000,000.

We lost 17,861 Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines in the Pacific Campaign. They lost roughly 70,000 when we nuked Hiroshima and between 45,000 and 75,000 when we nuked Nagasaki.

I think they fucking paid for Pearl Harbor already.

Besides, anyone of these cockstains that think we're morally superior to Japan needs to look at one more thing.

Katrina hit and there was looting. When the officers that beat up Rodney King were given the not guilty verdicts, the communities "wounded" by that decision rioted and killed 53 people, wounded thousands more and did around a billion dollars in damage in a 6-day riot. A sports team wins or loses a major game and hooliganism breaks out and cars get flipped over and set on fire and windows are smashed all over the place in a drunken form of celebration or protest.

In Japan, they got hit with massive quakes, tsunamis, 6 reactor cores about to burrow into the ground "like a big ole' glowing gopher" (Bloom County Reference) and a volcano going kerblewie on them (If someone were to try to make this into a film last year it would never sell for being so unbelievable)...

Yet there is no looting. Stores lower prices on the scarce food stuffs available, vending machine companies are giving away their stock, people are orderly and trying to help get things back under control.

Gee! Maybe these cockstains ought to consider that before putting on airs of moral superiority.

Either that or just shut up before we start hunting them down so we can anally master them with a red-hot agave cactus the size of the Chrysler Building...sideways.
“There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea's asleep and the rivers dream, people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice and somewhere else the tea is getting cold. Come on, Ace, we've got work to do.” - Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor.
