I wouldn't say sheltered, just a tad ignorant of the possibility.

But then again, one could argue that I was sheltered, in a way, growing up in schools where the bullies were the jocks and popular kids (doctors' and lawyers' kids). Especially the jocks, though. They were the worst.

Let's see... A fucked up upbringing where all the adults seem to be completely and utterly useless, but let's blame the slow kid who actually doesn't know what he's doing is wrong for all of it.

      Yeah... makes perfect sense. 9.9

Also, I went to special needs school with all other special needs kids. The bullying there was almost unbearable.

That describes the stalker I had briefly. He was a hefty guy and 'special needs' and pretty much obsessed with MMA (somehow that entered into his being kicked out of the support group). He seemed not all there, but I got the sense that if something or someone set him off...

Welcome to the world of High School. Bullies/sports/cheerleaders are the gods, everyone is scum. Do everything in your power to make bullies/sports/cheerleaders stars happy, and do everything possible to punish everyone else.

Imagine a regular student bullying someone. Picking on them, shoving them into lockers, tripping them, punching them when no one is looking.

Now imagine Lenny from Of Mine and Men doing it. As a school child, still freakishly huge with terminator strength. It doesn't matter what his intention or thought process is. It doesn't matter to the kid getting his chest crushed because Lenny wants to reenact what he saw on Monday Night Raw or something.

Now imagine, while your chest is being crushed, because Lenny is jumping up and down on you, laughing at your plight, imagine that your final act of desperation before blacking out from pain is to yell "GET OFF ME YOU RETARD!"

Now imagine Lenny breaking down in tears. The teacher, who's been watching the entire time, suddenly snaps out of her alcoholic stupor and comes running over to you to grab you by the arm and drag you inside for terrorising poor Lenny.

And now the final straw - as you're being led away, the teacher already tlaking of expulsion and calling your parents and other horrible things, you glance back and see Lenny grinning from ear to ear because he knows he just fucked you and got away with it.

But you're right. I guess that's 100% my fault. I should've been able to run faster than Lenny!
did you ever do anything to this kid? call him a name, make fun of him, laugh at him? anything at all even once?

Would any of that make it okay for the other kid to assault him, especially if he wasn't doing it at the time?

Some kids will try to recreate what they saw on MMA/He-man//Ninja Warrior/Jump City because they saw it on TV and it's cool.

A lot of kids can realize 'don't try this at home' is generally good advice. A special-needs child may not, until they hurt themselves and/or are told to stop beating on the other kid.

For all the schools try to enforce in loco parentis (which one might assume includes 'protecting' them from being attacked on school grounds), they do a piss-poor job of stopping the bullying and abuse.

You know, I can see both sides of the issue.

As a "special needs" kid I had my fair share of bullying done to me, but I also got some of that because of my smart mouth, and I also did a little bullying myself. My take is that neither situation is OK.

The reason I put special needs in parentheses is because I was only special needs in school. Once I graduated, I ceased having those special needs.

Seriously though, whats the point? DrFarook got his image completely shat on and was punished for no reason. I don't see any type of point you have in mind.

The point was in relation to Farook's comment on retaliation. gremcint was saying by the 'retaliate 1000fold' standard, that would be justified.

In multiple threads he has said what I quoted above about needing to respond 1000 fold to every little thing and I was attempting to point out to him that he may have been on the receiving side of his own policy and didn't seem to like it very much.

Ahhhhhhh, ok. I somehow skipped over that quote several times. My bad.
