  • Someone else to blame.

Now the masses of the unintelligent and uneducated fucking stupid are blaming the CERN and the Large Hadron Collider for the Earthquajes in Japan.

Just do a google search for Japan, Earthquake and CERN

They make my brain go all 'splody. Make them stop.
“There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea's asleep and the rivers dream, people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice and somewhere else the tea is getting cold. Come on, Ace, we've got work to do.” - Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor.

I wonder what the underlying reason is. It's not just stupidity, and it seems to go beyond ordinary conspiracy theories... what I mean is, for SOME reason, some people are deeply and particularly (sorry, unavoidable pun) against the Large Hardon Collider (avoidable, but why would you want to?) and will make up absolutely any excuse at all to demand that it not exist.

I still like the BoobQuakes theory
I'm lost without a paddle and I'm headed up sh*t creek.

That's the basis of conspiracy theories. It can't possibly be a case of "shit happens", there must be some source manipulating the events that are occurring. Still makes them look fucking nuts though.

Nah; Japan likes boobs, so it can't be a boobquake.

I read yesterday that Hugo Chavez...is blaming *capitalism* for the earthquake. As if we needed further proof that he's a crazy douche bag

You know I was trying to put a joke together but I'll just post the word "tentaclequake"

Oh well, it's just because we could accidentally create a black hole in the Hadron Collider. Nevermind that the chances of such a thing happening are virtually unlikely. Funny thing is I would think Geneva would be feeling the effects of a black hole before Tokyo. In any case, none of us would have to worry about it for long if such a thing came to pass.

Anyone else see that movie on SyFy a month or two ago in which St. Louis was sucked into a black hole that got out of control?

Wouldn't that be exactly why they'd have a boobquake? It's because people are naughty and naughtyness causes earthquakes.

Greenday hit the nail on the head.

I want to see another boobquake.

I'm fine with just seeing the causation of it.

that is such a BAD SciFi movie. they rename all of the local landmarks and streets (St. Louis born and raised now transplanted in the frozen north).

I ball up in the fetal position every time that "movie" comes on

You can only laugh at those kind of movies. They are bad sci-fi, no doubt about that, but I still watch them because they amuse me. I grew up in southern Illinois about two hours from St. Louis, myself, so I know what you are talking about with renaming landmarks and streets. About the only way the science in the movie could have been worse would have been if the black hole had somehow triggered an earthquake along the New Madrid Fault.

After all, if CERN's hadron collider can trigger the earthquake in Japan, why couldn't a black hole forming in St. Louis trigger the New Madrid?
