They have these wonderful inventions now called washing machines that mean you can use the same clothes every week for months on end... even if the jeans cost $150 a pair, surely they last longer than a week?
Did you not note the amount they're spending on fast food a week? The jeans they bought last week don't fit this week...
Well it depends what you eat, and who you are with, I got 2 free meals from McDs, it was $15 for me and the gf. We got some angus burgers, and oreo flurries. So, if you figure $8 a meal, he is probably going there for lunch which is $56 for the whole week for one person eating more than they should... However, normally I do $2-3, for McDouble, apple pies and maybe a sundae or whatever else. can eat much more when your practical, I also don't see the point in paying for sugar water I really don't need. The clothing allowance is nuts.
What I love is my state has a very distinctive credit/debit card for child support, I have come to know it well, mostly people buying cigarettes which pisses me off. Maybe add a candy bar on for the kids but $5.48 for a pack, $.99 for the candy, sure you can claim well you use your paycheck to pay for the food, but i really doubt it. child support is for the child, not the parent. Usually if you were married for awhile the spouse gets alimony to cover THEIR expenses. If you never got married and had a kid guess your screwed its the kids money.
Quick query - is anyone here assuming this is in the US? Just wondering what the conversion rate between US and AUS dollars is. Some people seem astonished at the outlandish size of the costs involved. I have no frame of reference as I don't know what they are currently.

One US dollar = .96 Aus Dollar. So, pretty much a wash. The $150 jeans would be $155ish dollars here. And across the pond in Britain those jeans would be about 95 pounds or 109is Euro (sorry, don't know how to enter the fancy symbols).
My brother wears $150 a pair jeans, but he is 30 some years old and a trendy fuck with a job. I see no reason why a kid needs a weekly allowance in jeans. Bet if he worked my job where those jeans took 3 days to pay for.... he would start finding $20-40 much more worthwhile
Wait, this isn't about one of GK's callers?! Wow. You know with $800 a week, I could do a lot of things with that. None of which includes paying 150 for a flippin pair of jeans. I wear DRESS pants for work, and wouldn't even spend that much for them..and they last me a whole lot longer then a week. Some are getting a bit old and need replaced, but some are dang nice. Even counting the dry cleaning needed to maintain them (dry clean only, and they have to be pressed), I don't spend near that much on clothing.
I might spend 60 some weeks on fast food..much to my embarrassment..doesn't help I could burn water normally...as for the rest..the gifts, etc that is just plain ridiculous.
Oh for fuck's sake. That woman is a real piece of work, isn't she? And she's raising her kids the same way.
$60 a week at McDonald's? I don't even spend that much there in a year.
$150 a week on jeans? Do they have gold thread weaved through them? Again, I don't spend that much on clothes in a year, let alone just on jeans.
(Of course, maybe I'm just a cheap-ass. )
Seriously though, there's no need for her to be spending that much on such extravagant luxuries, and I'm glad the court shot her down.
Hell, when I was a teen my parents got a divorce, and while Mom did okay with her own income + child support for my brother and me we certainly never went crazy with money like that woman. We kept our spending moderate and enjoyed the occasional splurge. We definitely didn't try to live like royalty, unlike her.

I am in complete awe of how much money some women get for child support, and actually feel terrible for a lot of guys. Not deadbeat morons like my ex coworker, who is the typical worthless sperm donor, but guys who have been screwed out of being a father by upsetting the mother so that she pulls her weight with the courts (since they almost always side with the mom no matter how worthless she may be), and they can absolutely drain a guy to the point of broke as a joke with weekly/monthly amounts.
I know it's expensive to care for a baby/child, but it cannot be that much that the mother is living like an upper middle class version of Paris Hilton, and the father has to practically live in a cardboard box making Ramen on a bunson burner. My blood boils when I hear of single mothers not working and using their family and friends as free babysitters and just draining the living hell out of every penny they get from the father, and if the father ever dares piss her off anymore, POOF, he never gets to see his kid. Or they'll make scenes and refuse to hand the kid over for visitation if the guy shows up, or they'll keep going back petitioning for more money.
And wouldn't you know it, it always seems like the more a guy has to pay, the less he's entitled to see his kid
