what is really interestint (and I know several men who this happened to,) is that a one night stand can come back and bite you in the ass many years later. said one night stand has kid (yours) but NEVER seeks you out or claims the you are the Father UNTIL they get in a long stretch of bad luck financially several years later (and you know NOTHING at this point). then they go to court, get parternaty established and get BIG bucks support and you are screwed for the next 10-15 years of your life.
never happened to me but again I know of several guy this happened to.I'm lost without a paddle and I'm headed up sh*t creek.

While he's not quite 18 yet, I don't think it really matters now. He's less than a year away from 18, and he knows what she's all about, and wants nothing to do with her. And he's well past the age where the courts would take into consideration which parent the child wants to be with.
Still, it could have gone a lot worse for me.--- I want the republicans out of my bedroom, the democrats out of my wallet, and both out of my first and second amendment rights. You don't even have to be the kid's biological father to get hit with child support. There have been cases where a "father" got a paternity test done, turned out not to be the father, and the judge said it didn't matter because it was good for the kid. It literally makes no sense.
Courts shouldn't be able to garnish wages to the point where they aren't enough to live on anymore. It's absurd.Violence has resolved more conflicts than anything else. The contrary opinion that violence doesn't solve anything is merely wishful thinking at its worst. - Starship Troopers

and in Illinois they have a MINIMUM percentage of a person's gross income (most of the time the man's) that is require to be paid in child support following a divorce. I think the numbers run something like this: 1 child 20 - 25% of gross income, 2 children 30% of gross income 3 children 35% of gross income, etc. I do not remember if the Father can not get welfare or food stamps (or whatever the heck it is called now). I am assuming this was done to clear some of the "hassel" of child support shnanagens percentages.
I know this is true becasue I started my divorce the first time in Illinois and it was on the information papers I got.I'm lost without a paddle and I'm headed up sh*t creek.
