  • One more Cyber-bullying story

    http://www.parentdish.com/2011/04/21..._lnk2%7C210499

A 14-year-old who lost a leg in her battle over cancer at the age of 10 had to face a new threat -- a cyber bully -- who turned out to be her best friend.
when and where is this type of shit gonna end?????

I'm actually more amazed that the cops didn't try to put them through some sort of hassle about how it's not the police's job to deal with cyber-bullying.

      Wow, that's some best friend.

Threats of rape and a bomb? She seriously sounds like a sociopath. I'm not sure "counseling" will be nearly enough.

Bomb threats get attention, no matter how they're transmitted.

I'm glad that the bully is getting some kind of punishment (counseling and community service, according to the article), but like Andara said, I wonder if it'll be enough. Hopefully her parents are reinforcing the punishment and not coddling her.

That's it?! The kid deserves juvie at the least. Threats (especially bomb threats) are threats whether or not she thought it was funny.

Justine is very brave for coming forward and trying to help others who may be going through this. How many thousands of kids across America -- across the world -- are going through this, scared to tell their parents or teachers?

Bullying has been going on for centuries; the internet is just another tool for sadistic little sociopaths to torture their victims. Sick.

Did you read Akuin's story in the comments? Horrifying. And the Vice Principal was threatening to expel him! It took a hospital doctor threatening to shut the school down before the staff did what they were supposed to do!

I don't know what's worse, the bullies or the school staff who turn a blind eye and allow this shit to happen.

I hate the term "Cyber Bullying." It makes it sound like its different from regular bullying, and turns it into a new media is evil scare. Its bullying. It doesn't matter how you do it.

Phone calls and text messages count as "cyber" bullying? This sounds more like plain old fashion harrassment. By a young and budding sociopath path.
