Back when I was in school, there were certain events that were held inside the school on weekends. Drama productions, solo and ensemble, and forensics* competitions come immediately to mind, although I wouldn't be surprised if there were others that I'm forgetting. Not to mention sports that took place indoors, like basketball and swimming matches. No one ever checked every single person's ID who came in the door for these things, and big events like solo and ensemble ranged the entire school and took place in most every class room. There were lots of "strange adults" who came in, some were relatives or family friends of students who were competing, some were probably just alumni or other people who wanted to hear some music (in the case of solo and ensemble.) None of them were denied entrance, none of them were required to have a background check, and none of them were required to register at the door or show ID.
*forensics as in speech/linguistics, not forensics science. It was a competition in which participants select a category like prose, acting, poetry, storytelling, etc., prep a piece or number of pieces, then present their piece(s) to a set of judges. It was a lot like solo and ensemble, which was a musical competition in which students prepared a piece or number of pieces and presented them to judges. In both cases, if you were good enough the judge could send you on to state competitions later in the year.
