Actually, complimenting a person on their smarts or talent isn't much better than complimenting them on their appearance, it turns out. The most productive compliments are on what a person does, not what they are.

Either way, this girl is already showing signs of issues passed on to her by her mother. Wrinkles? Really? I'd really like to know what she sees that she thinks are wrinkles.

This is unbelievable. Sadly, this kind of thing does happen... and I feel sorry for that poor girl. The mother is deluded if she thinks that doing all this to her daughter will ensure her stardom. Does she have any idea of how few girls who want to be pop stars/actresses/models actually make it to the top? Very few do, and for most, it's due to talent, luck and hard work rather than looks and Botox.

People become "stars" because they work their asses off and pay all sorts of dues. And even then it's rare.

Being told "you're going to be a star" pretty much ensures that this child won't. Because she's going to think it's going to be given to her.

              Update

Botox Mom has said she made the entire story up

Apparently Kerry Campbell aka Botox Mom aka Sheena Upton was paid by the UK Tabloid, The Sun to portray a pageant momma who injected her daughter with Botox.

She was paid $200 by The Sun, but was offered as much as $10,000 to appear on "Good Morning America". There is no monetary amount disclosed for her appearance on "Inside Edition".

As for her daughter being a pageant child? Didn't happen.

The daughter has also been taken to the UCLA Medical Center and tests performed there have confirmed that the girl has had no Botox treatments.

Wouldn't it be an interesting twist if The Sun decided to go after her for some sort of breach of contract or perhaps copyright infringement for using their story (they wrote it, after all) for her own personal gain.

So does this new development make the story more or less idiotic?

It's easily as idiot, but for different reasons entirely.

But then, upon further reflection, maybe they aren't so different after all.

It doesn't seem all that bad to me. Lots of people do these random psychological evaluations on people by pretending to be someone else and gauging the reactions of others.

Now The Sun's reporter of this story has said the mother has ruined her life

Can they just go away now? Oi.
