I don't yet know what I think about this. I disagree with how we are overusing the registries that we have now and can see where this may also be overused.

Considering how much a questionable, catastrophic failure the sex offender registry is I can't see any success in any other system modelled after it. The whole concept of a registration list that is essentially designed to continue to punish someone after they have already paid the debt to society the court called for is pretty shakey to begin with.

Nevermind when its being run in such an incompetent and overzealous fashion. Now they want to apply it to a category that causes even more irrationally hatred then the sex offender registry? People will stab you in the groin if they learn you kicked a puppy 20 years ago.

Did somebody seriously look at the sex offender registry and think, "Wow this was such a SMASHING success, we're ready to export it to other areas of life. Soon everything will be better FOREVER! More cocaine, please."

All hyperbole aside, I don't see how this will work. Seeing as how it already hasn't worked, I mean.
