They're not holding back on letting the kid know what gender it is, they're holding back on other people knowing the gender. Because people have unreasonable social expectations tied to gender, and they want to force people to get to know Storm as Storm and only storm. Not Storm the little boy/girl, just Storm the happy healthy kid.
