I know people who stole a bag of chips from a 7-11 just to get "3 hots and a cot". Desperate people do desperate things.

So they do......my daughter's father mentioned once about there being a point in time where he was hoping to get picked up by the police so that he would be taken care of. And while Jeremy was in that sort of position due to poor choices he made in life, that must have been the only option available that he could see.
