I've said it before and I will say it again...HOA's SUCK and need to go away. All they care about are bullshit rules that just make people's lives hell. Telling you what color paint you can use, what can be in your windows, what type of grass to plant, how green it has to be, on and on and on. Fuck that. If I want to own a house ...like it was mentioned earlier, I will not be micromanaged about it. It would be MINE and I will do with it what I want barring activities that need permits from the city.

    Geeze.

I'm not seeing where they did say he HAD to build a second floor, just that they would have preferred if his house had one. There is a big difference. While asking him to is still somewhat of an asshole move, it's not a requirement. It's the equivalent of a random neighbor saying "I wish your house was blue". Well that's nice but just as in this case, it's your choice. Did it state anywhere that the lack of second floor was stopping him from building his house? From what I read, they would have preferred bigger, but the HOA flat out stated that the square footage of his house was within the requirements.
