  • CNN columnist calls out parents of badly behaved kids!

I have to admit, I'm loving this.

I love kids, but dammit - I did my time when my kids were little in making sure they didn't overtly disturb people around them. I wish certain parents nowadays would do the same.

Too bad the parents who should be paying attention to this article will assume the author is speaking about someone else's kids.

Kids are just awful people sometimes. Nevermind that they can't help it or don't know any better or they're just kids - a human being who shits himself in public and then sticks his hand in there to taste it is a terrible person.

So that being said, I'm all for zero tolerance on people's nasty kids. My kids are awesome most of the time. I can take them out places and they don't bother people. So I feel I've earned the right to take them places. Y'all with the loud obnoxious smelly kids, keep them home. My right to not be disturbed outweighs your right to take your kids to the store.

I saw that article and I agree 100 percent. Kids need to be taught that bratty selfish behavior is not tolerated and not acceptable. My kids were pretty well behaved in public and would sit in restaurants nicely and not scream their bloody heads off.

I loved this article. How do people not realize the world is not here to cater to their child's every whim and tantrum?

Then on the other end of the range, we have this:

^That's the sort of person who believes that the child free are evil, child hating Communists who gather together in their "child free spaces" to roast a child over an open fire and plot on how to suppress children and mothers.

No need to get revenge on her now; she'll get karma back in spades when her kids turn into bratty, spoilt, selfish teenagers.

What I hated (in the comments) were all the parents bemoaning the fact they have autistic children and OMG! the columnist is signaling out those with special needs.

Yeah, my daughter has autism. She acts out. Guess what? I either distract her OR I take her outside if she doesn't calm down. Oi.

Why would you want to take a child to a bar or club anyway? They are not really suited for children. Especially when there are plenty of restaurants where you can take children. I like children but not when I"m going to a nice restaurant and they are crawling all over the place.

I saw the second article, too. According to that lady, I must be an awful person, because I feel like if I wanted to deal with children on girls' night or a date with my husband, I would have brought my own.

I'm... Not sure it does, actually.

I'm interested. What's your reasoning on this?

In a public access place, it's up to the owners to decide what is an isn't acceptable. For truly public places, there are ordinances regarding the volume of noise.

Also, what constitutes "disturbed?" Who gets to decide where the threshold is if it isn't the property owner?

Basically what Andy said, but more rambly, and followed by a bullet-pointed summary.
