That probably is what happened. I can see someone being more concerned about their child, than a $2 drink. I know I'd sure be. Instead, I think we have an off-duty manager who wanted to throw her weight around...and got upset because the customer had the law behind them regarding the dog. There's no excuse for following the customer around, nor is there one for assault and battery over it. In fact, that manager is pretty fucking lucky that the customer didn't decide to retaliate--in some areas, you'd get your ass beat with a tire iron, or even *shot* over something like that

And I'm sure the manager was the last thing on her mind at that point. Considering the mother was in a panic trying to find her child, the last thing she needed was some power hungry manager going after her, distracting her from finding her kid.

Sadly things like this are why dogs are rarely given to children.

Usually kids are not given service animals because of their age (none under the age of 5, that I can find, and for children 6-13 at least, it's very rare). It's not because of idiots who don't understand what a service animal is and don't understand they are allowed practically anywhere due to the law.

I have a feeling this ex-manager would have gone off on an adult with a service dog. Didn't matter who had it. The person would have just gone off the deep end.

I don't know how the woman's drink ended up on the floor, but she didn't toss it aside in a blind panic just because she momentarily lost sight of one of her kids. This is something that happens to all parents once in a while, and they don't completely lose their shit every time.

I'm not excusing the manager, but I am questioning the truthfulness of that particular account.
I could see her being more flustered than usual depending on how harassing the manager was being up to that point which would make it somewhat more likely.

It sounds like the woman was flustered because this bitch kept following her around the store. Losing her child probably pushed her over the top and she lost control of her drink. And if the Manager was off duty, she had no authority to make any sort of command like that.....I hope they throw the book at the bitch.

As for the story of the Iraq War Vet with a dog to help him with PTSD...I hope the bastard that kicked him finds himself in a situation where he's scared shitless....and then he may have a slight idea.
