Even though it looks like a terrorist attack and sounds like a terrorist attack, the guy was claiming that he wanted to save Europe/Norway from a "Muslim takeover."

As much as the guy was an idiot, I don't think he said Muslim WAS a race. He was more talking about Muslims taking over there. He's evidently racist, but being racist doesn't mean you can't hate people outside your religion too.

The thing that drives me up the wall is that so many people who believe all Muslims to be terrorists are now distancing themselves from this event by proclaiming that the killer should not be considered a Christian. While this is true, the blatant hypocrisy bothers me.

Well, he believes his country is being infiltrated and slowly subverted by "islamistic elements". He further believes that all Social Democrats (say, his government) are secretly Marxists, and that he already exhausted all legal methods in opposing these, and therefore, detonating a bomb in Oslo and attacking a "Marxist Youth Camp" were perfectly acceptable, necessary measures.

Yes, he's clearly nuts.

And, yes: holding all Muslims responsible for a few extremists' actions, but claiming that any Christian terrorist is of course not speaking for the Christian communities as a whole, is pure hypocrisy. But, to quote Picket Fences: "Religions are like farts. Your own are good, those of all others, stink."
