Even the thought of someone slamming a child of any age into a pole is nauseating, let alone a baby. Probably the lack of solid bone is all that kept him from being more seriously injured. Hard to break cartilage.

Agreed 100%. People like this will never be safe to be around others, will never make useful contributions to society. It's getting to the point where mental illness is used as a license for people to hurt others or hurt animals because "They can't help it!" or "He/she doesn't know what they're doing." I personally don't give a rat's ass if they do or not.

She is MENTALLY ILL. It's very likely that her action are either not totally in her control or she is being severely influenced by her disease. It is unfortunate that she was left on the streets to eventually attack someone as she did, but by rights she ought to be under a doctor's care. A lot of severe mental illnesses can be brought under control, if not conditionally cured. If this woman had the money, she would probably be a productive member of society. But since when can homeless people in America afford that kind of health care? So, because she's poor, it's obviously just easier to kill her and not have to worry about this.

This is a baffling mentality. You are, in essence, saying that a person who is sick is the same as a premeditated murderer. And that is supremely insulting. You don't care if they have no control over their actions or are influenced by vectors outside of their control? So... What do we do with all dangerously mentally ill people? Throw 'em to the wolves? Dispose of them? After all, they might potentially be dangerous! It doesn't matter if there are treatment options available, let's just get rid of 'em! And I'm sorry for swearing, but I'm very angry right now, how the HELL do you know that they'll never make any useful contributions to society? What if they were given the chance? What if they received the appropriate care? It's very POSSIBLE that they could do something with their lives! A large number of mental illnesses are TREATABLE. But no, these people are socially condemned because they're too poor to gain the help they need to because even basic human beings in the eyes of people like you. It's a medical condition. So if you had a seizure and punched someone in the eye and damaged their vision, we should put you to death? After all, not all epilepsy is curable, some isn't even treatable. Therefore you're someone who cannot contribute to society, as you cannot control your potential to hurt another human being. Same fucking thing.

This incredible lack of respect for human life sickens me. I cannot believe there are people here who would act this way. It's shameful.

Not only was she mentally ill, she was also probably starving. I admit to being a bit cold to the panhandlers here, but there is a significant problem with the way we treat, well, crazy people in this country. Our lovely Governor is systematically shutting down the remaining treatment centers in the state and ending public assistance programs...what are they supposed to do?
