Article at NJ.com : Family of Monroe Township man files wrongful death suit after alleged poisoning by wife
Article at Philly.com : Poisoning victim's family sues hospital, alleged source
Xiaoye Wang was hospitalized on January 14, at the same hospital that his estranged wife, Tianle Li, was employed. On January 18th, they administered testing for thallium poisoning, and on the 25th, test results came back positive. He died the the next day, on January 26th. His family has now filed a suit over the fact that his estranged wife was allowed access to his room.
However, there are a few facts that make one wonder. Wang admitted himself into the hospital. He even told doctors that he suspected Li of having poisoned him as she had made threats to do so previously. Why would he not have gone to a different hospital?
While I do think that the hospital should have had better control of a substance as dangerous as thallium and should have at least taken basic precautions as regards Wang's claims, I also think that most of the blame lies directly on Li, who did the poisoning, and partially on Wang for putting himself in harm's reach.
At the time he went to the hospital, it was likely that he could have been cured, but since he went to the same hospital as his attacker, she had the opportunity to continue to poison him.
