I think nobody really wants to say what they mean. And what they really mean is "We're looking for models who are sick and look like POW camp victims."

I'm not even being sarcastic. That's what they mean and don't have to balls to say.

Personally, I try to boycott clothing stores that cross a line. A store wants me to shop elsewhere need only send me a catalog with sick women modeling in it. That will pretty much guarantee that I spend my money elsewhere.

Another reason I'm glad I'm not female.

The minute a woman deviates from super skinny, she's considered too fat. And god forbid she's slightly overweight, showing any stomach what so ever. OMG she's an elephant.

The model in this article looks skinny. I don't know what this jerkass is talking about.

      I echo what mytical said.

Is anybody even reading the frickin' article before jumping straight to righteous anger?

Oh, well when you put it that way and I read the context, he still sounds like an idiot because the only thing I see in that picture is some cute skinny woman leaning against a wall not taking up much space.

            No?

Actually I want to see the clip to see what context the comment was in, buy the sounds of a couple of comments to the article it changes it a bit when viewed.

Comments on the article, from people who watched the show, are expressing surprise that others are taking the judge's comment to be about the girl's weight.

I will also reserve judgement until I've seen a video of the comment in context.

I think it likely that the news outlet was having a slow day and was looking for a bit of rage porn to bring in some traffic to the site. Success!

Since the article mentions jack and shit about the context. Here's the context:

The photoshoot was to pose inside a coffin. The model in question, Alissandra, was the only model to pose with all her limbs stuffed inside the coffin. Hence "Overstuffed luggage" comment about her pose. Here's the pose in question:

It should also be noted that the model who won the coffin shoot is actually bigger than Alissandra. Also, I gather from the show that the judge in question is the Simon Cowell character basically, so snide remarks aren't exactly unexpected.

The real debate should be over the size 10 dress thing as a standard, but thats something for the fashion industry as a whole. Not the show reflecting it really. She admits she put on weight during the show and could no longer fit into the sample dresses so she was elimated. She knew the rule was she had to maintain a shape to fit into said dresses. That's her job as a model ( whether it be right or wrong ).

Size 10 is size 6 I guess in US sizes? That's pretty standard Hollywood Megan Fox super model size I think. Not scary Paris catwalk Skeletor size. I don't think Australia's Top Model goes below size 8, so at least they're not venturing into or endorsing Praying Mantis territory.

Still, whining about it and stirring up drama then trying to pin it on one of the judges just sounds like sour grapes to me, honestly. She could have brought this issue to the forefront in the media without creating this big immature "omg he was mean to me" drama. Which was perfectly designed to trigger blind outrage in the public I might add. As is evidenced by this thread and by the judge's Twitter feed which is full of vitriol, wishes for his death, etc by people that haven't even watched the episode in question to see the real context.

I came into this thread to try and post something relevant, and now all I can do is picture Skeletor walking down a Paris runway.

                  And it is GLORIOUS.

                      Bwahaha! Brilliant.

Honestly, having seen the image in question, the girl does look like overstuffed luggage. Whose idea was it to have her pose in a child's coffin and not something that wouldn't make it look like some serial killer was trying to hide the evidence in the local mortuary's kid's coffin section?

Honestly, had she been in a larger prop, she'd have looked so much better. It's just not a very good shot.

Yeah, everyone else stuck their arms and legs outside of the coffin. It is a full sized coffin, but for some reason she scrunched herself up in it as you can see she's still got lots of clearance at the bottom. Between that and her choice of dress, which fills the space with its own volume and hides the actual shape of her legs ( plus its dark on dark fabric so the boundries are lost giving an impression of filled space. ), I can see why you might say "overstuffed". The only contrast is her skin which is only visible on her upperbody and she's not doing much to set herself aside from an actual corpse. Everything else is just dark colours over dark colours and she has the lighting entirely on her upperbody making it worse.

                        Conversely this is the winner:

Who has all sorts of crazy shit going on, lots of contrast and is posing outside of the coffin's boundries. Her figure isn't being lost in the shot either. You get a nice contrast between colours and clear lines of her figure. She played up her pale skin tone against the red. Instead of covering it all with an equally dark colour. She also balanced the light in the right place.

I should stop, I'm beginning to sound like Skeletor. -.-

tbh the coffin needent be there at all, if the premis was to pose inside and the winner barely has more than a foot ...

The first pic makes it look like she is in a too small a coffin and this is not helped by the large border of nothing vs the taller framed other pic, yes its the same coffin, but it looks too damn small in her pic.

Yep, poor framing, poor lighting, poor posing scrunching her up near the top and poor choice of clothes ( Dark colours and a high volume of material fills up the coffin space pretty quick. Especially when she stuffed most of it in the coffin with her. ). I assume the models on the show have control or input over all these factors in the challenge. So gotta fault her. ;p

So... there's basically nothing to get worked up about? Imagine that...

Sometimes, I feel like the internet is this huge mob with torches and pitchforks, stumbling through the dark asking, "Now, who were we supposed to burn, again? Never mind, there's someone over there!"

                              And, @Skeletor:
