Teacher Fired For Past Gay Porn Career

A Teacher in Miami-Dade County was fired for his past career in gay porn. Who's to say if this guy did that to pay tuition for college or just plain out was gay for pay. There's been numerous reports on the news of teachers molesting and/or having sexual relations with students. Granted that anybody can stumble upon the porn this teacher made in the past or any other porn films from anybody else online for the matter but it shouldn't matter so long as there is no record of lewd/lascivious acts, sexual harassment, rape and such.

Although I know of a case that will refute what I am about to type but,

I have to wonder if this would be the case if he was doing hetro porn or if it was a woman doing either gender.

Ideally, it wouldn't matter that he used to do porn (gay or otherwise)... but practically speaking:

At best, it's going to cause a distraction, because the students *are* going to know about it if they don't already. More, human nature being what it is, at least some of them will be curious enough to check out his work. Not only would that be a distraction (certainly I'd have trouble concentrating in a class taught by someone I'd seen in that context, whether I enjoyed it or not), because he'd be the reason they were looking at porn (more likely, at *that particular* porn, but parents aren't going to want to hear about that) his presence could be viewed as encouraging them to do so.

I don't like the fact that in general a porn past makes it difficult to get and keep better employment, nor of the tendency of employers and schools (and in this case it's the same thing) to try to control as much as possible what people do outside of work/school hours, but I also can't see any way for his remaining at the school NOT to cause trouble.

Yeah, while I wouldn't deny him the job. I have to wonder why the heck he would want said job seeing as how easy it would be for students to harrass him. -.-

In my experience if students want to give a teacher a hard time, they don't need a reason to be handed to them. Not that this helps but still.

My thoughts are, so he had a job doing porn to pay the bills. It's legitimate work as long as prostitution wasn't involved.

True, but when they don't even need to bring Photoshop into it, you're just asking for trouble. ;p

Still, he seems to be keeping some sense of humour about it. Sounds like he went back into the porn industry though.

There are just some careers that pretty much get closed to you if you happen to have a past in porn. Teaching is usually counted among them.

I don't really think it's right because I think the US has a really messed-up view on sex, but until such time as we become more enlightened about the subject, the fact that a teacher has such a past would be disruptive.
