Yeah - ta Dale... it explains lots.

Just wondering.. is what you put up there just merely an example of availability, or is it really that specific? I mean 'vegetables (usually only carrots') I'm hoping means that any vegies are available, but ppl normally go the carrot way... yes?? And peanut butter??? You get the picture...
ZOE: Preacher, don't the Bible got some pretty specific things to say about killing?

SHEPHERD BOOK: Quite specific. It is, however, Somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

The vegetable one is pretty limited and people usually get carrots. The peanut butter one is that exact. 1 18oz container of peanut butter if the check allows it. At least you get to choose crunchy vs creamy. :-p

Not all of them, I will agree. It's the ones like in the original article that sour the public's perception of the victims. Like BlaqueKatt said, it has been three years already. The government needs to cut her off and say "figure it out".

But, I guess I am just another person sucked in by the "outrage porn".

And people wonder why I don't think the USA should have government run healthcare. This article is a good indicator of it.

I would say yes, you are another person sucked in by the "outrage porn" since it seems you didn't even stop for a second to consider that the article was purposefully written to achive the kind of reaction you gave it.

Again, I have no way of knowing if this person in the story is in fact lazy or not, but it is very obvious that the author of the piece had her mind made up beforehand and didn't even do the most basic of research. Does the person have some sort of illness like chronic fatigue that makes it hard to find a job? Is she suffering from some sort of depression (which honestly is what it sounds like)? Those possibilities aren't even mentioned in passing, just what a bottom feeding leech the person is.

I don't really even blame anyone who gets all "RARRR LAZY POOR" anymore. Critical thinking has long been a skill which people are lacking in, and the garbage we get spoon fed by the media doesn't help.

You know, if the article had no comment by the woman in question, I might question the article a lot more. But the fact that she admits she hasn't done a thing to get out of free housing or to get a job is what annoys me. If you need help, you need help. But you shouldn't be allowed to just sit there and not help yourself. That's exactly what's happening with this woman. I know housing isn't cheap. I know a lot of jobs pay crap. But that isn't an excuse to at least try to make some money.

We have UKers who are still living in caravans nearly a year after some pretty bad flooding here but thats more of an insurance problem than anything else, people have picked themselves up dusted off and got on with it, however the levels of destruction were no where near the levels you guys had.
