    Exactly. Who cares?

I mean, I have relatives that think nothing of buying BMW and Mercedes sedans that cost more than my house. Do I get jealous? Nope, of course not. They're lawyers and doctors, and worked hard for the cash that went into those things. I can't really fault them for that.

BTW, if you get so worked up because someone has a "better" car than you...what does that really say about yourself? It makes you sound like a jealous whiner.

Anyone who buys things like these have a psychological need to say "Hey look at me!
"Anyone" is overly general there. Many are like that, sure. But there *are* people who buy such things, not because they want to show off, but simply because they like them and have the money.

Personally, I wouldn't want one of THOSE... but as I type this, I'm looking at a model of a 1950's Oldsmobile convertible someone gave me a few years ago. Given near-enough unlimited money, I think it would be a lot of fun to get a real one, fully restored, and drive it on special occasions or just when I was in the mood. But cars like that draw attention, and I don't even like it when people notice I've gotten a haircut. So, had I such a car, I'd have to work myself up to taking it out now and then and get used to the unwanted attention, not as the reason for buying such a thing, nor even as a benefit, but as an additional price to pay for enjoying it. And, of course, that price would include not only the notice itself, but also the unwarranted assumptions about my motive and character.

Some people, however much or little they actually have, will show off anything expensive (often spending nonexistent money to get it) to make themselves look better. And some people, however much or little they actually have, just want to live their lives.
