Neither Capitalism or Communism can operate without regulation. Hence the problem. A purely free market is no more stable than a socialist utopia that operates entirely on the honour system.

Regulation must exist because people are assholes.

Pure communism, as envisioned by Marx, was a society without government. By that definition, there is no regulation in a Communist Society. There is no "true" communist society in the world. Man is too selfish and want everything they see.

Which is precisely why when Marx and Engel started a communist commune to test their ideas it was a miserable failure. They turned into dictator dicks and everyone bailed.

We are no more a capitalist country than we are a communist country. The closest we came to being a pure capitalist country was in the late 1800's and that was a miserable failure. Many of the regulations that came in place as a result of that and stuff through the 30's was a way to temper the excesses of pure capitalism. Sadly, the past 30 years have been attempt to turn back a good chunk of those regulations - the most notable being the Glass-Steagal Act.

Exactly my point. Niether a true free market nor a true Communist society would have regulation, and they would both end predictably. -.-

Even China, which has been "communist" for the past 60 years...is becoming more and more "capitalist." My dad's been over there a few times, teaching English of all things. He also said, that they are *not* like the stereotypes depicted in the media. Most of the people he ran into...were very curious about Americans and how our country works.

The idea behind communism was supposed to make everyone equal. However, how can everyone be "equal" when some members are in the ruling class? In practice, at least from a 'class' standpoint, it became *exactly* like capitalism. You had a few people at the top, the majority somewhere in the middle...and the unlucky few at the bottom.

Everyone is equal. But some are more equal than others.

that's right! cops never do anything wrong! cops never use unjustified force! cops never lie to justify their use of force! cops never throw flash grenades into the middle of an unarmed crowd trying to help an injured protestor!

                          oh wait, yes they do.

if this had happened on a battlefield, the cop that threw the grenade could be charged as a war criminal under the geneva convention, but i guess since it was just dirty hippie protestors, that makes it alright.

If the military is going after a bad guy and a bunch of people try to aid that bad guy, they aren't innocent anymore. And if they get dazed for a little bit so further harm to the military doesn't occur, so be it.

Oh no! I attacked the cops and they fought back!
Oh no! I prevented the cops from doing their job and the cops did something about it!

                            What a shocker

deliberately aiming and firing at unarmed personnel acting as medics attempting to aid an injured combatant is a war crime under the geneva convention.

and did you even watch the video? where were these people attacking the cops? that's right, they weren't. all they were doing was attempting to aid an injured man. and at such close range, a flash grenade can do a lot more than just daze, it can kill.

also, i have yet to see any proof that anyone attacked the cops. only the cops' word, which frankly isn't worth much. the only proof i've seen is that cops were attacking the protestors.

So because the cops don't film their jobs and throw the videos on youtube, it doesn't count? LOLno. Considering this was the first thing I saw on the news when I turned the TV, I'm going to ahead and accept it as fact that this group was closer to being rioters than peaceful protests.
