I don't know how I managed to watch this again, but I did (probably out of Bile Facsination). There is just so much wrong with this.

So he beats her for not getting on the bed to be beaten. After belting her like 10 times (and each time more viciously than the next), he gets the mom to do it. You'd think that would satisfy this guy's lust for power and vengence. I mean he's already crossed the moral event horizon. But then after she finally gets up, he comes back and says "I never got my licks in"and beats her even more!. AND THIS WAS AFTER HE BEAT HER MULTIPLE TIMES AND GOT HER TO "COMPLY". What more would a sadistic, power hungry, imhuman fuckbucket want? Like I said, it sounded like he was enjoying it with his taunting YOU WANT SOME MORE?". And don't even get me started on "Take it like a grown woman".

Sorry for this rant and all the TVtropes links, but I've never been this disgusted with someone since Amy Chua. The only thing he's right about is "You don't deserve to live in this house", she deseves a much much better place and parents that won't fucking beat her this violently.

I saw on CNN the interview on AC360 with the mom and daughter. The mother said that she was forced to participate in the beating and how controlling her (now ex) husband was to her. She even said on another article that when the daughter was 6 months old, she left her husband and then he talked her into coming back and was stuck with him for so many years until she divorced him and had enough of his abuse. She said she thought she was a witch and the husband a monster after looking at the beating tape, has apologized multiple times to her daughter and they have grown closer. He won't be charged because of statute of limitations being long gone and past but also because the girl was 16 at the time of the beating and taping (Texas law defines a child up to 14 years old). But he will certainly face judicial probing which very well could mean him losing his position.

What's the statue of limitations on assault then? If in Texas the law states children are 14 or under...then she'd be an "adult". Wouldn't that count as assault?

Yeah. She was. I read an editorial from her in the Globe that was like "Oh my god... I can't believe anybody thinks that was good." I'm not mad at her.

Now people are blaming the girl.

Apparently, she was using the tape to blackmail the father. She kind of admits it in this interview. but I think most of these accusations are absurd. You had one commenter claim that she was "hamming it up" for the hidden camera which I think is utterly insane. Even if she was, it still doesn't make the judge any less of a sadistic asshole.

Of course it's possible that she's manipulative (look who she has for a father) and there's some wierd timing involving the release of the video, but most of the comments reek of blaming the victim. There's the thing with the mercedes which is supicious, but there's also another kid in his care. There's a lot of explanations as to why she didn't release the video until now. And let's say she was blackmailing him for financial support. Well he kind of did it to himself by beating her in the first place. It doesn't change the fact that the father is a complete monster and does not belong on the bench. Too bad he's probably gonna get away with this and continue to serve for the next 3 years.

I only watched about 5 seconds of the video once her dad started cracking that belt. So disgusting! and to think he is a judge presiding over abuse cases? He needs to be charged, and fired, and unfortunately I think another judge needs to review his case history to see if any bias came into play.. how many abusive parents got away with it in his court because he believed they were only doing what he himself would do. SICKO!!

(I say unfortunately for the victims who have to go through it again..)

Last I heard, this asshole got suspension with pay. Fortunately, he lost custody of the younger daughter though there's still a slight chance he might get joint custody.

I've been following up on this case cause it's a good case of how the internet can bring justice. Unfortunately, there are some commentors who saw nothing wrong with this and have come up with inane theories as to how she might have "provoked him". Some even going as far as to say that she was faking or exaggerating her cries. That if she would have just "bent over", it would have been over quicker. Classic blame the victim mentality. While there's a small possibility that she could have been a difficult child, the video does NOT lie. The man was abusive and it makes sense that it wasn't the first time this happened (how would she have known to set up the camera).

With that said, want some bitter irony? Read this thread on Judge William Adams posted 1 month before the video was released.
Particularly, number 8 on the list about needing video evidence or it didn't happen. Oh the irony.

Apparently, Adams has been re-instated. However, he is also prohibited from hearing child abuse cases, with someone from the Commission commenting that they don't believe that he can act in the best interests of the parties involved.

Sometimes it's just easier and/or cheaper to keep someone, doing what they *can* do even if it's nearly nothing, than it is to get rid of them.

They just need to fire him. Right now it looks like his boss can't fire him because the organization is weak. If he was my judge I would request a new judge because of his incompetence and attitude towards women.

Is it possible that previous cases that he presided could be under review because of the way he ruled? I know some lawyers will try anything to get there client off and this could be an excuse that they are looking for.
