  • FBI Declares Juggalos to be a gang

    http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/...201339557.html

I... Look, I am no fan of the ICP. Not a fan at all. Not even, like, half a fan. I think they've got some charisma, and they're alright wrestlers. Other than that... I just don't like them, but at the same time... What? I mean, yes, there are Juggalos who commit crimes. You'll find that to be true about fans of EVERY type of music. Juggalos are more visible when they commit crimes because they're wearing clown make-up, I guess. And you will find people who are not simply fans of ICP but consider that an important part of their identity.

I mean, from what I get, ICP's demographics also skew in the direction of people who are likely to commit crimes. And I can totally imagine a group of people who originally got together as fans of ICP eventually BECOMING a gang. But I just... Really don't think you can call Juggalos a gang. As the guy in the article said, its like considering New York Giants fans a gang because some criminals wear Giants shirts.

Really more of a horde than a gang. ;p

This part made me laugh though:

"Many are college students, college graduates, and some with very high degrees in many different fields. Others are humble, work long hours, and earn everything that they own. True Juggalos and Juggalettes are a part of a sub culture to America, and are NOT criminals!"

Yeah.....no. I'll grant their may be highly educated people with sufficiently poor taste in music. But if the "true" Juggalos are the ones that show up for the gathering every year....highly educated is not what leaps to mind. Though I will grant that many of them do likely earn everything they own. Its more the industries they use to do so that's a bit of a problem. -.-

I saw this on another forum and the first thing that popped into my head was "This isn't new news, why are people freaking out all of a sudden?" This happens a lot too.

I'd consider it more of a cult than a gang, but I can see how a group of people who do massive quantities of drugs and have a fair amount of members committing crime in the name of their "family" can be labeled a gang.

Silly FBI; everyone knows it's the bronies and pegasisters who are more widespread and numorous... XD

In any case, given that kind of evidence you could call any large group of fans a gang. Don't the FBI have anything better to do? O_o

What's funnies about this is that, after multiple albums full of songs about deranged clowns, evil carnivals and (I'm not sure how these carry over to the end result) screwing dirty skanks and getting STDs...

...ICP comes out and claims that all of the deep symbolism in their albums is about Christianity. PRO-Christianity. (Again, not sure how songs like "Bugz on my Nutz" and "Neden Game" fit in, but...)

Don't cross the bronies, or else you'll have to help us make cupcakes...

Honestly, not really. If there is a gang that crosses state lines, they should identify it. I can see why they might say that there's a gang, but I think its really, really stupid.

By definition, they are definitely a gang. The fact that the group is full of people who do drugs, deal drugs, and then there are also violent subgroups means it's relatively worth following. I don't think they deserve the focus MS13, The Latin Kings, Bloods, Crips, etc. deserve, but they should at least be kept an eye on.

                  I like some ICP songs...

                  I promise I'm not a criminal.

I don't get what you're saying. They are a subculture. Not all ICP fans do drugs, and deal drugs, and commit violence.

According to the World English Dictionary.

According to the main definitions of dictionary.com

                      According to Merriam-Webster

I hate statements that begin with "Not all..." It dismisses the fact that a ton do. It dismisses the fact that drugs are a huge part of the Juggalo culture. There are enough committing crimes together that it warrants focus.

                            Well, I went to Dictionary.com

                            1.a group or band.

                            2. a group of youngsters or adolescents who associate closely, often exclusively, for social reasons, especially such a group engaging in delinquent behavior.

                            3. a group of people with compatible tastes or mutual interests who gather together for social reasons: I'm throwing a party for the gang I bowl with.

                            4. a group of persons working together; squad; shift: a gang of laborers.

                            5. a group of persons associated for some criminal or other antisocial purpose: a gang of thieves.

If the FBI is worried about the first four definitions then I suppose yes,t hey are a gang by the dictionary definition, but its not the FBI's business.

And certainly some groups of Juggalos fit the last definition, but that isn't enough to declare the Juggalos to be a gang, since Juggalos gather together to listen to ICP music.

I'm not, despite what you seem to think, trying to say Juggalos don't commit crimes, I'm trying to say that being a Juggalo shouldn't warrant extra attention from the FBI.
